Hi,

I just noticed in the general tab of the privacy settings:

Screen Shot 2021-05-24 at 8.19.07 PM.png

Does the message "Your current security settings prevents the installation of system extensions" show up for you on your M1 Mac as well? Or is there a piece of software that is trying to install itself as a system extension on my machine? It doesn't list any specific software so I am hoping it's a general message and nothing I need to be concerned about.

Thanks.

With Big Sur, default settings don't allow the installation of extensions. It is a security feature.
Right, I'm trying to figure out if that's always there or if there is something that is trying to install on my machine as a system extension.

It doesn't on my M1 Air. (11.3.1, SIP enabled, on admin account)

@sfwalter that message only shows up when something is trying to install it and you have kernel extensions blocked (full security, default option for M1 Macs). Does this persist through a reboot? If so, and if you haven't tried to install something, you may have some sort of malware that is trying to install itself on your system.

Any idea on how to figure out what is trying to get installed?
