Hello

What's your favourite flying game?

I'm looking for some nice 3D flying games to run on my Macbook (X3100, 4GB ram) Boot camp is an option tho I'd prefer not.

Please don't say X-plane! I'm not interested in something with 5000 controls to remember.

I haven't played flying games in a long time, but old ones I liked were

- Prop-cycle (in the arcade - you pedalled a flying cycle),
- Star Wars Rogue Squadron (fly an X-wing and take out ground based targets on the planet surface)
- some game where you controlled a dragonfly flying though bushes.

What's out there that looks good and runs smoothly on my macbook?

I'm not all that keen on space shooters, I prefer in-atmosphere flying games. I'm open to suggestions though.

Many thanks

Freespace! It's awesome, and it's free!
And considering it ran fine on my 450MHz G4 cube, it'll run fine on a macbook.

Surely the best freeware game ever.
Personally, I would use the installer. Unfortunately it has some bugs that I'm really hoping will get ironed out in the next release, which has had a "soon" status for probably a year now...

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried out FreeSpace a year or so ago, couldn't get into it as seemed too complex to get started.

I do prefer in-atmosphere flyers

ps I just checked out your thread to see what was new, and many of the download links in the first post were broken.
