I really cannot understand this one. Your fingers are not perfectly clean, keep putting dirt, oil, whatever on the island, how to even take a reasonable clear selfie? Use your cloth or pant to clean the island every time first before selfie? Just don’t take selfie? Buy a bottle a water to clean it first?

Cause the cameras on the far right… and you can touch the middle and far left, also currently you swipe over camera for notifications, and people never have issues, or just wipe your phone on your top of its smudged?

Touch anywhere of the notch would work, I don’t think anyone would carefully think about the camera location every time before touching the notch area while it is totally black.

I keep seeing people raise this as an issue, and I don’t get it. How dirty are your fingers? My hands are generally clean, with a light bit of lotion on them, and I never smudge the screen. Certainly nothing a quick swipe down my shirt wouldn't fix.

I can—and do—put my fingers all over the back camera lenses, and it doesn’t affect the pictures I take.

I don’t take them. But if I did, I would just wipe it on my shirt. I always wipe my lenses before taking photos anyway.

I personally have a screen protector that has a hole where the camera is. It makes it easier to avoid touching the camera, although I haven't really used the "island" much yet.

I always quick wipe the lens before taking a photo.
It always has been dirty from dust, jeans pocket particles and other stuff.
The selfie cam also always has been dirty from the “scroll fully up” touch feature.

Nothing new…

I had a protector like that for my work phone (Galaxy S21). Dust, dirt and lint would "fall" into the cutout for the front camera and it was difficult to clean that out sometimes.

That's a good point, its a little hard to get little pieces of debris out sometimes. Less finger prints but it gets more dirty anyways so not really an improvement

I’ve been touching the dynamic island all weekend

There have been several threads on this and I guess I’m confused.

One, how many selfies are people taking? I realize just because it’s not my thing doesn’t mean it’s not popular but seriously, to the point this is an issue?

Two, if one is a habitual selfie taker, aren’t you cleaning the lens area by default to remove dust, smudges from every day use, etc?

Are you saying you take a selfie every 5 mins? Wow. I wish I looked that good.

You always wash hand before taking selfie? You play with your island 24 hours a day then what is the point only wash hand before selfie? Lol xd
