Looks like we have to go with one or the other. FW 3.0 allows tethering hack via www.help.benm.at but no MMS support. FW 3.1 gets us MMS, but kills tethering hack. Are you upgrading?

I have both on 3.0.1 and hope to keep it that way (til the JB is released for 3.1), but if I had to choose, I'd go with MMS. I've had 1 occasion in my life in which I actually needed to use tethering, and I survived without then so I should be able to if necessary from here on out. :)

The OP is wrong. I have both working and I'm on 3.0.1. Actually I've had MMMs working since January. Your options should be would you rather have MMS and tethering for free or have to pay for tethering lol. I accidentally upgraded to 3.1 and successfully downgraded. I am never going back.

Both are working for me and on 3.0.1. Since wife has 2G iPhone, MMS is moot. Long Live Unrestricted Tethering!

Don't know where you came to this conclusion, but I'm on 3.0.1 using the BENM hack, and have both tethering and MMS. Both work fine for me in Sacramento and Las Vegas.

BL.

MMS is lame. I don't even bother with a text messaging plan, because I only get about five texts per month. Long live tethering. :D

3.0 ftw!! I'd rather be able to tether in a pinch then send someone a picture on their phone (When I can just email it)

We'll just have to wait and see how the tethering goes when ATT rolls out their iphone tethering plan...

I have no need to send people pictures via a text message.

However, tethering is a dream come true -- having full Internet access on my Mac anywhere at anytime is great. Now why did I accidentally upgrade to 3.1? :(

Not voting until I see the "[ ] Both work fine for me in 3.0 and 3.1" or "[ ] Since they both work for me I find them both equally important"

For those who have both working, did you follow Benm hack force load carrier file 5.0? I have tethering work with Benm hack but not MMS. Each time I turn on MMS it killed tethering so I gave up. There are a lot of threads on getting both but I can't find a carrier 5.0 file that works for At&t.

I have both working as of yesterday on 3.0.1. I was using the benm hack and still had the 4.0 carrier file. Got the 5.0 file from here.

I restarted and everything works - tethering and MMS. I live just outside Milwaukee WI.

Forget the 5.0 carrier file, get the 5.1 carrier file. I made a thread about it earlier titled 5.0 carrier file not working and in that file it shows instructions of downloading the 5.1 and getting it to work.

Emailing pics is great when you're emailing them to someone with a data plan/smart phone. Tons of people don't have data plans and smart phones but have texting on a "regular" phone. Those are the folks that MMS will make it easier to connect with.

*Sigh* people always say this... I've been sending MMS to DUMBphones for the last year by emailing pictures from my Gmail to people's MMS gateway. For example 1234567890@mms.att.net. I wrote an applescript a while back to add all these addresses to my address book. It's here somewhere if you Mroogle it or look at my started threads.

I see you did say easier... so yes. It will be easier to have MMS if you decide to pay for a messaging plan.
