AdGuard deals with them completely. 1blocker deals with them most of the time. Wipr occasionally shows white overlay that disappears after few sec and you can make it disappear on a click of a button.

You need to turn on all extension in Safari preferences for it to work, specially experimental one since that is the one that blocks YT ads. If something has change I wouldn't know since I stopped using AdGuard. Check on AdGuard forums.

I decided to go stick with Wipr (which I use for years on both iOS & MacOS) because is native, small, simple solution that doesn't ever breaks webpages for me. I know it will block 98-99% ads and in case of YT ads I occasionally see white background counting seconds that I just skip.

I use Wipr with Catalina and I am really happy with it. I am not using the most recent build of Catalina though, as I am on 10.15.7 build 19H2 (IIRC 19H15 was the one released a few weeks ago, which I originally had and downgraded back to 19H2.) Wipr is extremely simple by nature and it is very light on macOS resources.

I use 1Blocker on my iPhones. 1Blocker has quite a bit more customizability and has some pretty advanced features that I have not done a whole lot with. It is an excellent app as well. I would use it on my Mac if I wasn't already using Wipr.
