The YouTube app within Apple TV doesn't have any way of listing new videos from subscriptions, does it? You can manually scroll through each of your subscriptions, but even then new videos aren't tagged for you. Am I missing something?

Subscriptions are working fine for me

Really? How so? Under my "Subscriptions" page, there is just a long list of the users I subscribe to, with no indication as to whether they have new videos uploaded that I have not yet watched

afaik you just have to check and see if you recognize something new.

what doesn't work (for me, at least) is saving a video to my favorites. it comes up with some sort of communication error w/ youtube. actually, the same thing happens on the 160gb apple tv. kind of annoying.

I have around 20 YouTube subscriptions that I check almost daily with the old AppleTV. It lists the videos in chronological order, most recent at the top. I just pop in to each subscription and check to see if there are new videos. Since I check them regularly I easily recognize if there is a new video present. For new subscriptions I just check the date to see what's recent. Don't trust the still-image previews that you can see when scrolling through the list of subscriptions, i've yet to decipher the order those are shown in.

I don't find the process of popping in to each subscription to be a nuisance, it only takes 3 seconds per subscription. It would be nice if there was a feed that showed you all the unwatched videos of all your subscriptions, but that's probably something Google would have to implement server side and Apple add support for.

If you get any errors when trying to do something with the YouTube app the only fix that has worked for me is to log-off of the app and log back in. You may need to log-off and on from the website as well. I've had to do that about once a year, not sure what breaks it.

Had the same problem. Found the solution.

Using your desktop browser go to youtube.com then go to your account settings and change the "activity sharing" to allow "sub a channel" and "fav a channel".

The YouTube app in ATV2 is a joke!

I hate the layout, I hate the fact that only a few random subscriptions are listed with no option to select which ones you want.

Out of the subscriptions that I have listed, I actually only check up on 2, and they're not even on a regular basis since the YouTubers rarely upload anything. I usually prefer list view, but it doesn't work well in this case. Why doesn't Apple give us the option to change views from list to grid? a view such as the one in their Netflix app or their movie app would be a great addition. If we're gonna be limited to only a few subscriptions, can we at least choose which ones?

The quality has improved with the latest version. Before all of the vids were at a horrid resolution regardless of the source. At least now we can watch crystal clear streams.

But seriously.... the YouTube app is a joke and needs some serious tweaking. If one is to get XBMC, it should be for their YouTube implementation alone.

Sorry, but just to add to my rant from above....

Why do I need to scroll down to access MY account? Why can't I join it by default?

I don't care about the rest of YouTube, I want to access MY subscriptions and all of the updates and recommendations as soon as I open up the app.

I just got an ATV2 and YES this really bugs me. I read that it is due to the current software build, apparently the previous build worked fine. Hopefully the next update will fix it? Hopefully?
