YouTube Fullscreen mode no longer working on iPad

So I noticed that this seemed to show up in the past few days. But you can no longer use YouTube Safari in its desktop mode on iPad and have full screen. I used to be able to simply pinch and the video would pop out and go to full screen mode when I was on YouTube‘s desktop site. Now when I try to pinch the entire screen zooms in not the video portion that used to pop out and show in full screen. Interestingly, the problem does not appear when using my iPhone 8 on YouTube desktop site, just my iPad. Does anybody have a solution for this?
