nformation: YouTube Mobile is a data intensive application. We highly recommend that you upgrade to an unlimited data plan with your mobile service provider to avoid additional charges.

if this is really the iPhone YouTube, then do they have some inside info on the data plans?

Youtube mobile is not just for iPhone. Its a warning--Youtube (and all videos) take up a lot of bandwidth. Without an unlimited plan, you will get a huge bill.

This warning has no reference, implications or anything else on iPhone.

are you sure, because wouldn't other phones just use flash?

when you open a video it comes up in quicktime.

the iphone app list on digg acts like youtube mobile was made specifically for the iphone. but in reality the dl speeds possible on EDGE almost entirely prohibit iphone use without using wifi.

No, because most phone browsers dont support Flash 8 or 9, which is required for YouTube videos. Downloads from m.youtube.com are 3GP, which should play on most phones in their respective media player.

it comes up in qt because they are 3gp videos. 3gp is somewhat of a standard video format for use in mobile applications.

They're in the 3GP format which many phones are capable of playing. Quicktime can play them too I guess, so they open in that on your computer

YouTube is switching all of their files over to the .h264 format, so Apple TV and the iPhone will be able to play them without going to youtube mobile.

Since iPhone won't have to use youtube mobile, this message isn't related to the it (as previous posters have said).
