iPad Pro YouTube seeking no longer working with Magic Keyboard

For the past few days, I can no longer seek using the arrow keys on the Magic Keyboard on the YouTube app, even though they show up as shortcuts using the cmd key. Reinstalling the app and rebooting the device made no difference. Anyone else facing this issue?

I noticed the same thing last night. I had an update to Youtube and I believe that is when it started

Why use the app. Brave blocks annoying yt features and arrow keys still work!

Yes very annoying. Happened before and took them several weeks to fix.
The latest v16.44.4 released yestarday didnt fix it.

Workaround you can use trackpad cursor and double-tap with 2 fingers on left/right edge of the video to seek backward / fordward.

That’s not a workaround. I‘m used to skip by long pressing the arrow keys and lifting my finger when it reaches the part I want.

Double tap on the video using trackpad but don't release the 2nd tap, then you can scrub left right to timeline ur liking.

Less convenience but thats the only solution atm until arrows keys get fixed.

Thank you for posting this, for the last few days I thought I was going crazy ?

Very annoying as I love using the arrow keys to seek forward or back, rather than having to move the trackpad dot up to the video, then move it to either the right or left side, then double tap to do the same thing that only took 1-click of the arrow keys before ?

Has anyone in the thread submitted a ticket yet to Apple (apparently other apps like Netflix are affected too, might be an iPadOS issue) or YouTube support regarding this issue?

This suddenly happened to me since yesterday too. This is really frustrating, I didn’t realise how much I rely on the arrow keys until now 😕

It works in Safari... I never use the youtube apps, I actually hate it... Annoying ads and and terrible comment management compared to the browser version. I only keep it installed in a couple of iPads for notifications

I think it’s an iOS bug because in my case, the arrow keys stopped working on YouTube, Netflix, and Disney plus all at the same time, yet the arrow keys still work on anything that uses the default video player like the YouTube website and the Apple TV app.

I personally think its the bug with the iPads Keyboard implementation.. I often have theese bugs, but they are resolved with quitting the app and restaring it, or maybe , disconecting the keyboard, and reconecting it again *and worst case solution, restart the iPad…

Anywyas… please report this as a problem at https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html so Apple will solve it. So its a bug with keyboard just not wokring in an app but working for spotlight and so on. It resolves itself by restaring the app

Wow. It has been being weeks, if not months, but finally the bug has been fixed. I can’t say if it was iOS 15.2 B4 or the new version of YouTube released yesterday, but I just realized that is working now.

Still not working for me, But i haven't seen any youtube update on my ipad
(But my ipad is still on 15.1)

I noticed this little annoyance also with my Magic Keyboard and after seeing martinocando’s comment I went and updated my YouTube app and that’s what fixed it for me. So it seems that Version 16.46.5 of the YouTube app is the magic number for the arrow keys.

The arrow keys in youtube version 16.46.5 are still not working for me

Maybe apple should of named it "The buggy keyboard" instead of the magic keyboard ?
