Hi all,

Basically I have a paranoia of scratching my new 11" MBA, but I don't want to cover the nice slim unibody with a hard case, so I am looking at wraps.

Firstly there is of course Zagg, which is pricey compared to others. Then ther e is MacMates (http://http://www.invisiblemacmates.com ) which seems to be popular on eBay, but I can't find much info, and I hate that the spray solution isn't included. And I am sure there are many other alternatives, but I can't find them :(

So what does everyone think in terms of Zagg vs MacMates? And what alternatives are there?

Bear in mind this is the UK so I don't think WrapSol is available here.

Thanks.

Try the Speck SPK-A0225 SeeThru Case for the MacBook Air 11" in clear, that is what am using on mine. It adds almost nothing to the thickness or weight, and still allows the beauty of that brushed aluminum to show thru. At the low price they go far, it takes the scratches, and when it gets too bad, you toss it and replace. It is a simple snap on fit only taking seconds to install.

Cheers

I think the OP explicitly said he did not want a case that added bulk to the profile of the MBA.

I had a Speck See Through Clear on my 13" MBA. I loved the all over protection, being able to shove it in a bag or set it down on a rough surface was nice. However, I felt it was adding too much bulk to the otherwise extremely thin profile of the air. After a few weeks of using it with the speck case I decided to return it because I realized half the reason I purchased the MBA was for it's super thin profile.

In the past most of my mac laptops have picked up scratches on the bottom but never anything on the top (airport xray bins are a bitch). So now I am using a BodyGuardz film on the bottom and nothing on the top. I carry it in a waterfield slip case when on the go in my bag.

I have used Zagg on a MBP and I think the BodyGuardz is more transparent in appearance and has less orange peel effect. The BodyGuardz was also easier to apply and the cut outs were a perfect fit. I have never used MacMates. There is also Ghost Armor http://www.ghost-armor.com/ that I have had very good luck with (super clear and very durable) on other electronics but never on a mac or other laptop.

Not sure about UK availability on any of these.

With all these "protection film" products make sure everything is super extra dust free during application. Although it may look hazy at first they will all clear up after a few days of cure time.

i would totally recommend checking out BestSkinEver. They are much better priced and are very good. Don't know if they ship to UK or not, but would think that they should.
