Zagg's Invisible Shield...Is it really THAT good?

I'm thinking about getting the Invisible Shield for my iPad. I was wondering if it protects better than the regular plastic shields they sell everywhere. Some shields are slick/slippery which affects the accuracy when I touch the screen, so is there a loss in the effectiveness of the touch screen?

Also, if it's really THAT good, then I probably won't need the sleeve when I put it in my iPad messenger bag.

I would get the back protector, but I think zagg has the worst shields in terms of the rubbery tackiness of the few other brands out there. Don't put it on your screen, as you said it will add a tackiness and your finger wont slide across it as well if it were naked. It doesnt effect the accuracy or ability to use it through the film, its just the feel I dislike about zagg products.
 
Zagg as a complete body shield sucks beyond sucking in my experience.

The screen only shield is pretty good, but the body collects dust bad in the corners and the edges always eventually lift.

I ended up using shadescases.com for iPhone. I don't see any mention of them for iPad.

I think I'm just going to use it as is though and get the apple case.
 
I have the screen protector for my iphone and I hate it. Its too thick and it doesn't stay smooth or even. But it does to a good job of protecting the screen. I have dropped my phone of concrete before with it landing screen down and the protector took the damage, well it really didn't do anything the the protector at all and saved my screen. I don't plan on buying one for my ipad, with a screen that big I can't image getting the protector perfectly smooth.
 
Zagg and it's Cheaper counterpart http://www.bestskinsever.com/ are great for non touch screens, the shield really is pretty much indestructible.

With that said, I do not like it for the iPhone/Touch/iPad because it's too rubbery and my finger doesn't slide around on it all that well.
 
The invisible shield is great when it's first put on(if you take your time and apply it with care)but after a few months it will make the device start to look grubby.The corners will start to look especially bad as Zagg still can't perfect the production process for the corners.
 
I prefer Phantomskinz over Zagg especially for touch screens. I have one on my Palm Pre and it's complete smooth and I don't have a problem with the corners coming up. I also prefer Phantomskinz install method over Zagg's. It seems to me that using a spray bottle is asking for bubbles.

I'd have to agree with this. I've done Invisible Shield full set and screen-only. They use a urethane film which is the same as used in invisible car bras or fender protection. It's tough and it works but the comments are valid about the corners. Some people don't apply it well. It takes time to do it right but those corners are an issue and always have been.

I recently tried Best Skins Ever and their urethane film is thinner but it will still protect the phone.

The film really picks up hand oils. I'm amazed how disgusting the film looks when the film is removed to change it out. It gets very yellow.

I heard about the orange peel effect, and the color changing. That's when I learned about the Phantomskinz and I have not had either problem.

I always go for Best Skins Ever now. Much cheaper and just as effective in my experience. The newer one for the rear of the iPhone covers a bit less but doesn't have all the fiddly corners that collect dirt so it suits me.

However, I never use these for the screen of any gadget. I just get a Martin Fields or Power Support crystal screen cover which is pretty hard to detect unless you look closely.
 
Its the back that always gets scratched for me - never scratched an iphone screen once over last few years.

You make a valid point. I've had 3 iPhones and the screen doesn't get scratched but the back, unless covered, is vulnerable.
I will be getting one of those "rubber" back case/sleeves for my iPad.
I made a case for carrying it in.
 
Agreed. Don't waste $$ on a screen protector. I've had an iPhone 3GS in my pocket daily for close to a year and have ZERO screen blemishes or scratches. Bezel and back are a different matter entirely.

Additionally, the experience you'll get with the oleophobic coating on the glass screen will be negated.

Ah okay then. If YOU'VE had zero blemishes then nobody will ever drop an iPhone, have it manhandled by a work colleague or accidentally put it in a pocket that has something even vaguely sharp in it.

Time to close up shop Zagg.
 
I've got a Zagg on my MacPro for over a year and it has protected my laptop well. They are a pain to put on but I think still worth it. I've had practice on a Dell Mini 9 before the MBP so the lessons learned served me well.

I did put a piece on my trackpad and found that a little Klear Screen screen cleaner makes the shielded trackpad a little more glassy. I'm not sure If I'll cover the touch screen on my iPad as long as I have a decent cover or bag. It isn't like I'm going to put it in my pocket with keys ;) But the backside might benefit from a Zagg skin. You do get a naked look with good protection. Remember your not going to be holding in your had all the time for use.

Yes, I've had some edge problems where I'm pulling on the LCD lid to open the laptop. That shouldn't be a problem with the iPad.

I have a set on order for my 3G iPad. So it will be a while before i can report on it.

Zagg = Insurance

So YOU have hands of stone and drop your iPhone all over the place and get it scratched up and want to buy Zagg and an Otterbox and wrap it all up? Fine. You put sharp objects in your pockets and put the iPhone in there too? Great. Hold the iPhone in one hand and a pad sander in the other while you sand down the room for blue paint for the new baby? Spectacular.

I'm not the most together person in the world but somehow have managed to keep my iPhone from getting scratched IN MY POCKET for almost a whole year. The oleophobic coating is too nice to mask it with Zagg which has nowhere near the tactile enjoyment. All of the screen protectors that I have tried (5 or so different brands that have come with various cases) are nowhere near as slick and smooth as the original screen - and I (me, myself) haven't had an issue. An edge case? Who knows. At least it's one testimonial of an iPhone not in a bubble that comes out ok.

Put the phone in a small lightweight case with an edge around the bezel so if it drops flat, the chances are reduced of scraping up the display. You really have to WANT TO to scrape up the glass on a 3GS to scrape it up. Back scratches easy though.

Argument goes both ways. I'll take my chances, save money and enjoy the feel of the screen and won't come crying if I'm dumb enough to drop it.

Open up shop again, Zagg. Lots of fumble fingers want to give you their money.
