For years people have been talking only about the tablet.
Now as it's here, this forum has the lowest number of participants
whenever I check, equal to Macbook Air. I guess it says something...

Too many complainers in this world?

It seems that people are so preoccupied with the 'no camera, no flash' whining, they can't see the potential of it.

Well put.

I might add, "doesn't run OS-X" (it does, just not the desktop variance), "can't multi-task" (it does), and they stop trying to compare it with a general purpose computer.

It'll just take a bit before the potential sinks in. I remember back when the iPod came out I thought "dumb name" and "why?". The name became a non-issue and a short while later the "light" came on and I got the 5GB model. Haven't been without one, in one form or another, since then.

People aren't seeing the big picture

Listen, I understand many people's frustrations in that its not the tablet we wanted. But really, if Steve gave you a macbook with a tablet slapped out, would it be much better? I really don't think so. This might be a blessing, would just don't know yet. I feel that Apple was a bit lazy in the design, but to be honest, this might be the ideal design. The Bezel is needed!!! and it's more of a coincidence that it looks like the touch. The touch and iphone is ideally a design that follows closely with other apple products. This wasn't going to sway away with the ipad.

Ipad destiny of failure or success rests in the developer. Iwork demonstration showed what this tablet is capable of. It's up the developers to create applications, instead of apps. I mean true full fledged applications. Tablet that we want is the Minority report version but really those can be considered an app. One app thats used. Imagine, a task list thats integrated with mail or the corporate server. See while everyone sees the ipad as glass half empty. I see it as glass half full.

Only time will tell

Exactly right. Developers have created some stunning apps for the iPhone and that bodes VERY well for the iPad. I imagine we might see MS office suit, Adobe apps etc all with beautiful multi touch UI's. I for one can't wait to see what's possible!

I for one see tons of potential for the iPad in my life as a college student. Every time I do online homework I think, "How much easier and cooler would this be if I was on the iPad!"

Not that many people have been talking solely about "the" tablet.
This subforum wasn't here that long ago.
This forum has increased it's numbers 100-200% from it's pre-iPad announcement usage.

It'll get in the 100s, 1,000s when it's actually released.
