.Zip Password Encryption

Yeah yeah, normally this would be for bad purposes, but I got a legit reason...

My friend sent all of his buddy's some of the pictures he took on his summer trip, now some of these were... a little *much* and didn't want some of the pictured passed around, so of coarse, he .zip'ed them and *arg* put a password on the file.

Now it has been 3 weeks since I checked my mail and I just got this file today, all my friends have looked at, and deleted the files, and of coarse forgot the password. To make matters even worse, my friend got his hard drive erased by some virus, yada yada he wants the pictures also.

So which brings me here:
Obviously Stuffit will be of no use because it asks for a password know what knows...

Anyone here to save the day?

if you have a windows machine or vpc go to versiontracker and you will see some brute force hacker programs for these files.

I was hoping for a workaround, brute force cracking is the easiest to get interchanged with hacking, which I am not doing, I have the right to open this file by its creator.


And VPC does it have enough CPU to crack it?

haha whatever man. if you have the right to open it how is it hacking. but who am i kidding, i gave you an option, try it or not, your morals not mine. i thinkg vpc will have enough, it will just take a long time. but you can always guess forever.

this is like using packet scanning software to test your own network... of course scanning and reassumbleing packets could be used improperly but if its not its fine. Look at dynamite, it has good applications and numerous bad ones too....doesn't mean that every use for it is automatically bad.
