I just recently unlocked my brand new out of the box refurbed iphone. The T-mobile service and data plan work great on it. However, I noticed that I am at firmware version 1.1.3.
What is the best and safest way to upgrade to 1.1.4?

1.1.4 is just bug fixs..if you want you can still same..im on 1.1.3 im happy:D

Hi, I just bought a new iphone. Restored it to 1.1.4 via itunes and then let ziphone do it's thing. Took about 5 mins to restore and about 45 secs to unlock - easy.

I unlocked an iphone when they first came to the UK and it took me all night! ziphone is the way to go.:D

I just got my UK OTB 1.1.3 today, and want to Jailbreak, Activate, Unlock.

From reading the forums, iClarified, etc, it seems that using iPlus 2.0b with 1.1.4 is the neatest solution.

I am currently downloading the 1.1.4 firmware - once that is done, do I just force the phone into restore mode and connect to iTunes, then Shift/Restore to 1.1.4? I am a bit unclear on this..... sorry if it's a dumb question.

Hi all, First of all.. sorry for hijacking your thread, although I felt there are too many to open another *blush*. I just bought the iPhone today from the UK Apple store. Will it come pre-installed with 1.1.4 or earlier. If it comes with 1.1.4 will ZiPhone work OK to unlock? I have ZiPhone 2.6b.

My aim is to unlock the phone so I can use T-Mobile and if possible (although no necessary) to maybe get the NES emulator. Thanks in advance.

Already ZiPhone 2.5c was able to unlock and jailbreak 1.1.4

If there is 1.1.3 preinstalled just
1. connect to your computer
2. restore iPhone via iTunes to FW 1.1.4
3. use ZiPhone
4. have fun

There are so many video tutorials on youtube.com...

Restore iPhone to 1.1.4?

Thanks for your suggestions.

However, when you say "restore" to 1.1.4 via iTunes, you mean "upgrade" to 1.1.4?

I wasn't clear at first. I DID unlock my iPhone successfully, with ZiPhone 2.5c. I configured everything correctly, put in contacts, etc. Now if I use iTunes to upgrade to 1.1.4, will that damage my successfully unlock?

Thanks for your help in advance!

I suppose so, it depends what version you are on to start with. In iTunes the button says "restore" when you are in recovery mode but it 'installs' the latest version of software available regardless of what version you have. If you do this after unlocking you will have to unlock again. Not a problem though as it takes no time at all as you know.:)

However I guess you'll lose all your prefs and settings so that will take time to set up again.:(

Well when 'restoring' up, it makes sure it clears out all the old jailbroken stuff so you can restart the jailbreak for the next FW.

I know some will argue with me now for saying that.. but I feel restoring up to the next one is better (mainly cause I get a big error when generally installing an update .. so i HAVE to restore it).

Unsafe updates

Are there ANY (that anybody knows about, at least) harmful updates that should be avoided on a ZiPhone unlocked phone?

Thanks again.

I'm not going to argue with that. s'wat I would do.

Apple or 3rd party?

3rd party... I havent come across any.

Apple...114 is the latest and Zi works with it. 115 is anyone's guess.
