I've read that ziphone permanently downgrades your bootloader to 3.9. Two questions: Is this the same 3.9 that shipped in first day iPhones? Also, is it possible that future firmware updates will not be installable if this bootloader is present?

Yes it is the same 3.9.

It is always possible but unlikely as Apple would be cutting off all the original users - so they may force a bootloader upgrade through iTunes if that ever happened.

Eitherway it doesn't matter anymore as Pwnage can change your bootloader eitherway so its no long an issue. Read the FAQ!

Ok, thanks for the response. It's just that I have a ziphone'd iphone and I had a really hard time using Pwnage. It would never connect to the AT&T network after iPwn'ing.

I am assuming you ticked on unlock and neuter baseband and activate?

Otherwise it wouldn't work. Your lucky ZiPhone did not mess up your phone big time as it has been known to do!

Don;t be scared if you used ZiPhone. Apple will Never force a Bootloader update. It's just too dangerous and it might cost them a pretty penny if iPhones start screwing up because of the update.

Just use Pwnage tool and you will be fine. Do not panic that much over ZiPhone because the Dev Team came to the rescue :D
