I had a 1.1.1 OTB phone that was fine. I had unlocked it in order to use with an AT&T sim (not the one that it came with)

So today I got the smart idea that I would try to take advantage of the new features with 1.1.3 and use this new ziphone software. It looks like I'm ****ed!

I'm more than willing to RTFM. RTF FAQ whatever... however I'm not seeing that ANYWHERE for 1.1.1
All my information is from reading posts on this forum as well as some others.

Today:
1. I upgraded in Itunes. 1.1.1 to 1.1.3*Again per what I read here and on other forums
2. Started ziphone (Note I have 2.0 version)
Selected unlock which is supposed to be fine with all versions
selected jailbreak

It just hung there for 15 minutes... and now I have a phone that just boots to the apple logo.

HELP!

I did read...
VERSION 2.0 is supposed to work for every version. Anyway.. I'm hoping for productive help not "I told you so"

actually the newer versions apparently do both 3.9 and 4.6 unlocks.

Using -v (verbose mode) apparently helps if you are getting stuck at the Apple logo? I had the same problems, and ended up using parallels/xp to do it, but ran with -v there, so not sure which helped, but got it (v1.1) working.

Ziphone 2.0 did the same thing to my 1.1.3 OTB iPhone. 2.0 doesn't work for allot of people. The original version does.

Yeah I used the 1st GUI version(1.2?) and it was looking for my phone for a while, so I restored and used the original command prompt version, worked perfectly...

Uhh I'm sorry.. but how can I restore if I'm stuck with the logo and itunes will not even recognize the phone?

I'm sorry if I'm being a newbie... but I'm searching everywhere and can't find instructions for this...

I have no idea what Independence means to you...

What is the "original" version?

Try putting the phone into recovery mode...

Same here so I've decided that I'll not risk my iPhone any more and am currently reloading all my media back onto my iPhone :)

Hold down sleep and home until you see the iTunes Logo, then connect to the computer.

That seems to just shut down the phone. I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling about this.

Then when I restart I try the same thing.. and just just reboots it... and I'm back to apple logo no matter what.

Just keep holding until you see the iTunes logo. You may have also put it into "mega" restore mode, if you do it while plugged in, it should kick on iTunes.

Don't worry, I had the same thing last night. Very recoverable. Just put it into DFU mode (hold home+power for 10 seconds (count it out), then keep home down 10 sec more). You'll then be able to restore to 1.1.3, and try again (and I recommend trying -v this time, it can't hurt at least!).

Download this file - the 1.1.1 Apple Restore file:
http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite...927.In76t/iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw

1) Hold down the sleep/wake button and home button until the phone restarts and you see the apple logo again

2) let go of sleep/wake button - keep holding home button

3) Eventually you'll see a connect to iTunes image

4) open iTunes...it should show that it detected a phone in recovery mode

5) Option (on mac) or Shift (on PC) click on the restore button and choose the 1.1.1 .ipsw restore file you downloaded

6) Wait for it to finish...it will fail at the end

7) Run iNdependence (google it) on Mac or iBrickr on PC and let it do its think for a minute or so...

8) Your phone will make a noise and you should see the activate now screen

9) Then follow various guides and try the upgrade again.

Turn it off with home and sleep, then make sure your phone isnt plugged in, then hold down the home button, then plug it in, that will turn your phone on and keep holding the home button until you see the iTunes and usb cable pictures...

Ok..
I'm confused.. and I so appreciate the help... but when I hold those 2 buttons down the phone SHUTS DOWN.

So I never get anywhere.

How can it get into restore mode if it just shuts down???

The phone will shutdown, then restart, into recovery mode, just keep holding down the buttons.

Ahh now this seems to be working.. the Iphone connected and is letting me do a restore..
Very confusing since the screen remains off as you do this connect...

I found others with this problem... I will inform them!

THANK YOU!!!!

If the computer is still off but is allows you to restore that's what I mean by "mega" restore mode. When I tried jailbreaking with iFuntastic a while ago I learned about it, but can't remember what they called it.
