Friends want to use Zoom for video conferencing. Is there any security issue with installing the Zoom package? I don't use Facebook and I don't want anything installed outside the safari sandbox. Can it be installed in a private Safari window without leaving any trace?

There's a massive focus on Zoom these days that's uncovered issues that they're addressing. Zoom v5 is out this week with a multitude of new security features.

Many of the recent issues where more down to people "Zoom bombing" rather than inherent security issues.

I've been using it on my Mac constantly to keep in contact with my team. Zero issues.

You don't have to install the Zoom app. There's a web version. Sometimes the "join from browser" link is hidden, but you can go to the download page, cancel the download, and then join from the browser

I have now installed Zoom on the guest account on my mac (well it's available in all accounts but I use it only on the guest account). This should limit the data Zoom can track or spy on. I'm less concerned about Zoom being hacked as I use it only to join private meetings. I just don't trust Zoom or Facebook to not track and spy on my computer activities and connect these data to my identity. Yes, I'm paranoid about this. However the company I work for has found (the claim they found) that Zoom tracks information and is therefore not allowed to be used on any of our work related devices. For us the fact who was in a meeting with collaborators/competitors from other companies is already considered classified and Zoom is likely tracking this. Why they think Microsoft Teams is not tracking this I do not know. In fact the Zoom website is blocked for all of our devices.
