This is a problem I have been having for ages. I do not fancy the current '2-finger zoom' on trackpad to make websites bigger on Safari. I instead would love to have the '2-finger zoom' affect that Chrome provides - whereby the page's format is preserved, while at the same time, the whole webpage appears larger. (If you could understand what I mean).
Chrome also saves the state of the zoomed webpage even after closing and re-launching the application. For example if I click ('Command' '+' '+') on (AppleInsider.com) to double zoom the page and when I close the webpage or exit Chrome ; upon relaunching, Chrome saves/remembers my last zoom setting on (AppleInsider.com). Remembering the saved state of the web browser zoom is a very useful feature and I'm sure many others would agree with me.
Users don't have to re-click 'Command' '+' '+' each time a webpage is launched and that will allow for a beautiful browsing experience !
Two of the solutions I describe below, remembers the saved zoom state of a webpage but they aren't perfect :
I have tried an extension called 'AllPagesZoom' - the problem is, when a webpage is launched, the zoomed webpage appears hacked and there are restrictions to zoom percentages.
I have tried CSS code on Safari but it only enlarges the text but the images aren't resized according to proportion. Chrome has a perfect zooming capability but unfortunately I feel - with Mountain Lion, Safari 6 integrates much better and I need to use Safari.
It will be really nice if the community has a solution to Safari's zooming problem or even any other ideas not mentioned above.
