Well it's been out all day and I can't seem to find anyone mentioning it already so I guess I will.

A new app was released to today that basically does what SimplifyMedia did and more.

It allows one to stream music, video and other files to one's iDevices. Both the app (iPhone and iPad) and server software are currently free. They state the will be rolling out other services that will cost but that basic streaming will stay free.

So far I gotta say it works great. It's fully 4.0 compatible and best of all one doesn't have to mess with router and firewall settings. It's all handled but the server software.

Let me know what you all think.

I am no way affiliated with the company by the way.

Awesome APP Five Stars Easily...

I am loving ZumoCast, it is what Simpify was and a WHOLE lot more. The only thing they need to add at this point is a search feature and its a wrap! I would have happily paid for this App.

it streams MKV, AVI, Xvid, Mp4. M4V, it does everything I been looking for and its available on my iPad and my iPhone. This App just made both the devices all the more great. I would imagine with all that it does it may not remain free for very long. If you do not have a streaming App, this is the one to have!!

Videos files you can stream...

DivX (divx)

Flash MP4 Video (f4v)

Quicktime HD Movie (hdmov)

MPEG-2 Program Stream File (m2p)

Matroska (mkv)

AVCHD Video (mts)

Material Exchange Format (mxf)

Ogg Media File (ogm, ogv, ogx)

SMIL Presentation File (smil)

Video Transport Stream (ts)

ASF (asf, asx)

3GPP (3gp, 3g2, 3gp2, 3gpp, 3p2)

AVI (avi)

Flash Video (flv)

MP4 (m4v, mp4)

QuickTime Movie (mov)

MPEG Movie (mpeg, mpg)

Real Media (rm, rmvb)

DVD Rip (vob, iso)

Windows Media (wmv)

Everything posted here is actually true. I know people are waiting for VLC to be approved, but with this there may be no need to worry whether or not it happens.

I tested it with a pretty heft .mkv file today and it worked. Not only did it work. but it worked flawlessly. Not a skip or stutter in sight. Absolutely no lag in video/audio syncing, and IT'S FREE.

The only small small small caveat maybe is that you have to create an account, but that's so you don't have to worry about syncing stuff or worrying about port numbers and such.

I throw my full support behind this app!

I love it... it runs great even on 3g. Plus you can dl your content onto your phone so you can view offline. I have Air Video also which is awesome but i think this runs better when on 3g between the 2. It also looks good too. Great App so far.

I was quite surprised to find this app, after having purchased Plex (it's good, but it has problems finding 20 TB of media, and I never managed to get it working outside of my house/through the router). Zumoecast works great, and I am easily able to access my home media when on the go.
