"No escape from Reality...”
This was discussed a long time ago when the Zune came out. And just over a month ago I saw a couple of articles stating that the Zune was "Number 1 in MP3 player sales". But later in the article, they talked about "Windows players with 30 Gig hard drives." Interesting spin...

Another article said the same, but iPods are NOT counted as they are considered "Mac and Windows MP3 players" (not Windows only).

I guess that the Zune can now boast in being the NUMBER 1 MP3 player overall as Apple no longer has a 30Gig player...

Interesting spins...

Microsoft will definitely follow Apple and [try] make more attractive and better mp3 player. Will they succeed? No.

Yea, I just heard of an 80 Gig Zune in time for the holidays. I didn't know MS was even going to continue trying...

The 30Gig now sort of fills in a void that Apple's got. The best they should do is keep the 30 Gig Zune and drop the price again to $179 and not really bother wasting their time with anything else...

The Zune now needs an upgrade, the price is 199, but Apple's offer is now 80Gbs(although Zune fans can look and say, 8Gb from Apple or 30Gb from MS for 199?...thats spin though)

Personal I think the Zune's line up is to limted to work!

The Zune requires the Zune software (I believe) which is a very very weak ripoff of iTunes, so therefore...yeah...they could give away Zunes in a box of Fruity Pebbles, I still wouldn't use the damned thing. :D

The Zune line up is too limited to do anything, including sell itself. I'd rather spend an extra $100 and get myself an iPod Touch, which can serve as both a PDA and an iPod. The problem with the Zune is that it lacks all of the crucial elements that are needed to sell a product successfully:

1. Vision-where is the Zune going? Even Balmer doesn't know!

2. Style/Design-Sure, brown Sh*t will sell well:rolleyes:

3. Innovation-Ummm...what does a Zune offer that an iPod doesn't?

4. Marketing-Have you seen a Zune commerical? Neither has anyone else!:p

Then there's always today's (that would be 9/10/07) Joy of Tech cartoon.

Usually, I would say "show this to the Zune crowd. It'll drive them nuts!" Except that there is no Zune crowd.

So, what feature does the Zune have, that the iPod does not? Why,,,, Wireless networking with other Zunes! Yes, that is what all the young people want, so they can share their music with each other while in close proximity. Yep, that's what they all want. Definitely.

Seriously, I don't see the Zune going anywhere soon. As most people know, Microsoft has billions in cash just sitting around, and they don't like to lose. They'll keep this product going, even if the major shareholders are demanding its cancellation.

I don't think there's enough Zunes in the population to warrant having a wireless sharing feature. :p (even though the Halo edition Zune is pretty frickin' sweet looking)

I don't understand how a company as rich and powerful as Microsoft has allowed the Zune to languish so.

It's a 30 GB brick that hasn't changed since it came to market.

Why doesn't Microsoft make Zune the default media player on Windows? I haven't used Windows in a while, but I assume that WMP is still the default. It just doesn't seem to me based on their action that Microsoft wants Zune to do well or even cares about it.

The same could have been said of the XBOX or, heck, even Vista.

The Zune is doing *alright* for an MP3 player, we just have larger expectations because it's Microsoft.

Remember, this is just rev1 and they were testing the aters. I'm sure - as much as I'd like this not to be the case - future Zune releases will fare better in the retail market...

THEN you go to the MS fanboy sites and they're going on about how 30gb is more than enough (sounds familiar aye?) and will downplay the iPod on it's super capacities. Saying that ¨oh just put on what you need¨. lollopops.

Zune needs-
Capacity.
Remove or improve the Wifi features.
to be sold outside the US.
