Does anybody use both Alfred and Keyboard Maestro? I'm an Alfred fanboy but from what I understand the main difference between the two is that KM has macro features. Doesn't Automator do the same thing as KM or am I missing something?
Recently got a smart plug and was interested to see if I could set up an automation that would allow it to stop charging at 80 (or whatever percentage). Was able to do this as a normal shortcut but automations, from what I understand, can only be done through the home app, which can only be...
Hello,
My company is using an iPad as a visitor check-in/out kiosk. I would like to be able to set the iPad to unlock/wake at a certain time in the morning, and then lock/sleep again in the evening.
Is there a way to do this (1st or 3rd party), that doesn't require jailbreaking?
Thanks!
Hey guys, wanted some help from people that may be more experienced in HomeKit.
I'm moving into my new place some time in the future and currently trying to plan out the smart home accessories.
One of the main issues is the lighting situation, I plan to run 2x lines of LED Strips across my...
Hi,
Anyone here competent at automation? I just want to say to HomePod “Hey Siri good night” and it will play a rain sound for 30 minutes then goes to sleep. Sounds simple enough. The problem is I know nothing about automation in Home or Shortcuts so.. helps! ?
Ecolor Life is an App to manage your LED devices as a remote controller via Bluetooth.
With the Ecolor App, you can intelligently control the color, brightness, and scene modes of the LED strip lights, also the LED strip lights can be rhythmic with the beat of the music. no matter how many...
Hi all,
I am trying to create a shortcut that will ask for a time input then use that to edit 4 already created alarms with 10 minute intervals (eg. if you say 8:00 edit alarm 1 to 8:00, alarm 2 to 8:10, alarm 3 to 8:20 and alarm 4 to 8:30) - it seems so easy to create new alarms is it really...
Think this can be done in IFTTT but thought it would be good to setup in the shortcuts app and don't think IFTTT allows 8 Applets without paying.
My job involves me traveling to around 8 sites in the local area. What I am looking to do is create an automation that adds a calendar event when I...
Some questions about using solely HomeKit to manage my ecobee thermostat as opposed to the ecobee app:
1. Do I need to keep the ecobee app installed on my device?
2. I can remove everything from my ecobee app schedule except sleep, which appears as an all-day event. Will this conflict with...
I recently purchased a Philips Hue White Ambiance starter kit. I set up my automations with HomeKit, but my lamps all turn in with different temperatures. I’ve noticed there’s a way to set brightness and temperature in automations, but the temperature setting doesn’t seem to stay. Is this a...
Is it possible to trigger the iPhone alarm clock to go off using HomeKit automation? I want to trigger an alarm to go off when a door sensor is triggered.
What I am trying to solve is that I want to be aware of when my 2 year old son wakes up in the morning and opens the door from his room. I...
Did anyone get this working?
e.g. Turn something ON/OFF when the device enters or exits a location?
I am trying to get this set up.
Strangely I found that iOS will notify if the automation is about to run but NOT run it. I had to tap on the notification and select run. Its an Automation...
I'm trying to run a recorded Watch Me Do sequence as part of a Quick Action I've created to watermark and compress PDF documents. The watermark is added using the Watermark PDF action and then I use Watch Me Do to open the resulting file in PDF Optim and run a preset for compression. When trying...
I keep missing Prime Days because I don't get an alert letting me know when they are going to happen. Is there a service that will send me an alert like "Prime Day starting in 1 week" or "Prime Day started today" ?
Or perhaps a service that automatically adds Prime Day to my Apple Calendar?
I have a HomeKit garage door opener from Insignia that I bought on Black Friday sale last year. It had a lot of problems at first and bricked itself, but the newer device with the newer firmware seems to be running okay now. But I'm wondering—is it possible for a geofence to incorrectly detect...
After installing 10.14.2 I found that one of my scripts wouldn't run. This script had run for years. Eventually I found it was related to permissions. In the course of testing things I got a popup asking if I would grant permissions to the target app. I said yes and now the app works. This is...
For example, we have multiple bedrooms, bathrooms. In a situation where I want to control the lights, how would I tell Siri to turn off all the lights in a specific bedroom?
I have an Apple TV and HomePod in my bedroom which both act as a hub, so when I say the command "Hey Siri turn on my...
We have over 30 philips hue bulbs along with other smart home devices in our HomeKit. All have been working with limited issues until about a week ago when I noticed that random bulbs would be “updating” or no response. Eventually they would become available again, but this issue is still...
I have a couple of sets of automations that i have run at (1)10:15pm and (2)7:00am for over a year. On Friday I upgraded to my new iPhone. Suddenly the automations started running twice a day, as if they were in the eastern time zone and in the pacific time zone. Now number 1 runs at 7:15pm AND...
Hi!
I would like to do "repeat loops" and "if then else in" HomeKit.
I understand that its not so good to do that on the phone because it will use too much battery,
but if the HomeKit hub (apple TV) handles it, it would be good.
I want to make a routine that checks the value on some sensor and...
