I had some trouble with CCC backup disk corruption and decided to check the main system disk, a 2TB SSD on my Mac Pro 5,1. A couple of observations:
- You cannot just boot into the recovery partition and run First Aid with the Disk utility. The recovery partition is a mounted container of the...

I will describe the steps.
1. Open disk utility, click on upper left side , select view -> Show all devices
2. Run First Aid on Container Disk
3. Run First Aid in the subdisk under container disk. If the first aid runs without a problem try to run it again. Eventually you will get a corruption...
Hi folks! I recently replaced my 2011 iMac's failing internal hard drive with a nice, spacious 4TB chonker, and decided I could spare the room for a Windows partition again — it's been a few years, and there are a few Windows-only games I wouldn't mind trying to play again. Thing is, my iMac...
After recently upgrading to High Sierra 10.13.6 (Late 2009 iMac), things don't look quite right in Disk Utility.
When I open DU, I now only see one internal volume (where there used to be 2: I believe they were the root plus the formatted partition). The volume that appears now does not show an...
I've got an old MacBook (Mid 2010) with a physical HDD containing 3 volumes - each is a boot volume and all use FileVault2.
Under Sierra all of the volumes were visible in Disk Utility and in the Startup Disk System Preferences.
After updating from 10.12.6 to 10.13.6 one of the volumes is no...
Hi! I have an external HDD Seagate st1000m035 1TB that I use to backups. Carbon Copy stop making backups and I realize one of it's partitions just gone. The other one is inaccessible, but still there. So I am trying to fix this HDD in several ways, but when I tried to use Disk Utility to test...
Hi,
I have a 6TB WD External Elements drive and it was formatted to NTFS. I need to format the drive to Fat32 and so I tried doing this but after reformatting it to Fat32 it shows that 4.4TB is used and 1.6TB is free and I cannot figure out why. I have not partition the drive at all. And no...
Main Topic:
Upon opening disk utility I noticed my internal hard drive (HDD not SSD)was seen as APFS formatted?
Not sure if it has anything to do with my hard drive's poor performance but it really feels like the drive is on the verge of death and I don't know if I should just reformat the...
Hey everyone... I'm seeing some weird storage issues on a new MacBook Pro I bought in September.
I deleted 100+ GBs of data last week. Checked space the next day and noticed the numbers didn't seem right... So, I decided to before/after screenshot what Disk Utility was reporting as free space...
Hello everyone.
So, I need some help, I have these partitions created I suppose by installing bootcamp and stuff and I can't remove any of these. If anyone knows how to remove them please help XD. I really need a way to only have 1 solid disk instead of 5. The "-" sign does not work on any of them.
Hello to all, I hope you are having a good day.
About a week ago my imac would not boot up. So i took to the internet to figure out what the problem may be and came across some useful information. I can boot up to disk utility and i see the hard drive and everything but once i start running...
Since installing 10.14.2, I can no longer format volumes to APFS:
Disk Utility fails to umount the volume.
Even after stopping each and every thinkable process, it hangs in the umount phase.
Quickly trying on my 10.14.1 MacBook was successful.
Bug?
Waiting for 10.14.3 etc. etc. ..........

Hello!
When I ran today Disk Utility, in the log appeared the following error (both Macintosh HD and disk1 Container):
warning: inode_val: object (oid 0x200a2be43): invalid bsd_flags (0x10)
There is something should I be worried?

So I recently purchased a Synology DS517 to expand our DS1817+. I did everything properly on the Synology side and have it showing the increased space of ~90 TB up from the old ~50 TB. The problem now lies on the Mac OS side of things because it's only showing the old 50 TB size. Here's a...
Just updated to Mojave from 10.9. I did a TM backup on external before updating and then physically removed TM drive. For setting up bootcamp (never used it before) it seems as though I now need to remove local TM backup files, disassociate/remove any previous TM drives, and do a disk utility...
In brief, I want to delete that APPLE SSD MEDIA > Container disk3 partition completely and add it back into the Mackintosh HD file where it originally was. But the partition option isn't available under Macintosh HD. And the Partition option under Container disk3 doesn't allow me to use the "-"...
