Hi!
I know there is loads of information on the site about 5,1 and graphics cards but the threads are so long I cant find the info I need for some of the newer GPUs for my needs (Non gaming but creative apps).
The machine is a 2010 5,1 with a W3690 3.46 6 core, 48gb of ram, 2x 850 Samsung evos...
Hey guys and girls, i was just thinking about buying one of the 2017 MBPs and realized that the 2.9 GHz MBP is 150€ more expensive than the 2.8 GHz with 560 gpu. Are there any other differences and is that small difference worth the 150 bucks?
Thanks alot!

Hi guys,
I have recently joined the camp of the used cMP 5,1. It was my replacement for my beloved Mac Mini early 2009 that recently failed on me.
As you can tell I can still live with a Mac Mini 2009, I am not a very demanding user. I use my computer mainly for daily web surfing, some office...
Hey Folks!
I was hoping someone with more knowledge than me knows what they did in the Sierra update that got rid of some GPU issues?
I have a mid-2010 MBP 15' i7 and a couple years ago it would go into kernel panic every 20 minutes or so on yosemite. I had to give up on it because it was out...
Hi people, i was gifted a macbook pro 17" (I know ... its a beast! .. well it was ). About a month ago it reset on its own and wouldn't boot back up, after leaving it for an hour or so it would boot back up again and was okay for around 3 weeks. Then again, it reset its self, but this time it...

Good morning all,
Like a few others here I didn't check the power requirements before buying the 1080Ti for my Mac Pro 5,1, and have been scrambling to find a solution for powering it which doesn't involve a secondary PSU or overtaxing the 2x6pins.
I still have 1 PCIe slot available, and it...
My previous post received no answer so I reformulated it hoping for more luck.
Accessing the Foto-Mediatek directly from my user account through Pictures causes an intermitent dancing (blinking) desktop forcing me to shut down the MP 6.1 as the only solution.
Any other application dances as...
Hello,
Our 13" 2016 MBP is having difficulty with Lightroom 6.10.
When in Develop mode, only while cropping, the photo sometimes goes black—for a moment. It is an intermittent issue. This only happens when "Use Graphics Processor" is checked in the Performance tab of LR's settings.
Advice...
Not trying to get too far ahead of myself here, but it does seem quite likely that I will get either the next Mac Pro or possibly an iMac Pro to replace my current mid 2010 Mac Pro. I really don't know much about GPUs, but I heard that NVIDIA now supports Macs and I wonder if it would be worth...
Hey guys,
Just updated to the latest version of MacOS on my Mac Pro 4,1->5,1 and it cannot detect any graphic cards... I have 2 XFX RX 480's @ 8GB installed and the cards are no longer listed in the System Report. When I check out the PCI tab in System Report I get the message "There was an...
I have no idea why people would even want Ryzen Macs. Core for core, thread for thread, AMD is behind Intel. The only reason r/AMD circle jerks these processors is because how cheap they are, mindlessly comparing them against the 7700K which is a 4c/8t processor.
If you're an Apple customer...
Hi All,
This is literally my first post, but have been a lurker for many years! I recently had an opportunity that netted me a free mac pro 5,1 (Mid-2010) and decided to upgrade the !@#$ out of it. I upgraded the CPUs to the 5960s, upgraded the RAM to 32gb, installed USB 3.0 card and (2) PCIe...
Hey MacRumors folk!
Although I love my 2012 rMBP very much, it's just not cutting it for the power I need for uni. I'm on a games programming course and so I'm running a lot of Windows software, and developing for Windows in general. So it's time to build myself a PC - plus I've been wanting to...

I've just made my first attempt to install an RX470 into my machine and have met with partial success.... I was able to try out a Sapphire Rx470 8GB like this one. It is installed in Slot 1 and powered by a dual six pin to 8 pin...
Hi everyone
Just wondering how people generally feel about/ what experience people have with using Sata to 6 pin y cables to run a graphics card?
I have access to an rx470 with 8 pin that has a tpd of over 150 so intend to use both the board 6 pins to run it. It'd be nice to be able to keep my...
Hi all,
My first and current MBP is an early 15” 2011 model which has the infamous GPU issues. Mine has failed 4 or 5 times in the past 6 years and when it went again last week I decided I have got my moneys worth and can’t justify another $600 to $700 to get it repaired in the knowledge that...
Hi all, long time lurker first time poster. I've got a Mac pro 4.1 2.26Ghz that has been flashed with 5.1 firmware.
The issue is that I've just installed a flashed XFX HD 5770 like this one to use as a back up card and it all works fine apart from the mini display port. I get the apple logo and...
