Hi,
I have a 21.5”, Mid 2011 iMac running High Sierra. I would like to lengthen the life of the machine, so I was thinking of hooking up an external SSD to its thunderbolt 1 port. Ideally this external SSD would also be bus-powered.
The plan is to put the OS and all my apps onto this SSD (if...
I am finally taking the plunge and upgrading to Mohave (public beta.) I am running Sierra right now and have to waited till now to upgrade because i heard there were some bugs with the new file system and Fusion Drives (& Time Machine too.) Will my 32 bit apps (ex. Picasa) still work? (i thought...
Hey y'all, I've got a strange issue. I purchased a used iMac a couple months ago and it was working fine then. Everything booted fine and stuff. However, I've been having some OS issues and wanted to start fresh with a clean install of High Sierra but this Mac wont boot into recovery mode and it...

I accidentally erased my 64gb usb sandisk with FAT instead of exFAT.
Now it says "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" and I can't recover it in any way.

I had a consistency error on my system drive which neither Drive Genius nor Disk Utility could fix. I cloned the High Sierra system SSD with Bombich CCC to an internal HD which had been wiped and APFS formatted and found it to be bootable, as expected. The next step will be to reformat the old...
My trusty laptop finally died and I bought a mid 2017 imac which is running high sierra.
My problem is that much of my software won't run on high sierra and I would like to either use the HD from the laptop (which has el capitan on it) as a start up disc or make a time machine back up of it and...
Classic Mac Pro with 10.13.6. I'm starting a new Time Machine drive as the old one filled up. Checking startup drive with disk utility and Drive Genius indicates a consistency error which could not be repaired but tells me to fix asap. Suggested fix is to clone startup disk, reformat and clone...

My Classic Mac Pro 5,1, which is a flashed 4,1 has been upgrading and running the OS without problem up to 10.13.6. Disk Utility just indicated a consistency error on the boot drive, which is a 240GB APFS SSD with 100GB free. When I tried to reboot from the recovery partition it just booted from...
After encountering a kernel panic loop, I rebooted my mac to Recovery Mode but now it only starts in Recovery Mode so I chose Install macOS Sierra, connected to my wifi, but it says the disk is locked. :(
I moved to High Sierra a few months ago, and I was noticing some weird behaviour with what my storage space was showing.
I have a 1tb SSD in my MacBook Pro. I only have a few hundred GB of my own files. I just deleted about 200gb of files from my desktop, and there is no change in free space...
So, I see some threads here in the forum about updating microcodes, and they quickly gather many posts from folks who are apparently more up to date on the benefits of updating such. I thought that perhaps the rest of us might benefit if those most knowledgeable would be able to enlighten us...
Before I start with the problem, I am a newbe with Mac OS so please be patient with me. We have a number of iPhones, iPads and even an old iPod Classic at home that are all used happily on a daily basis. It is only recently that I started replacing our Windows systems for MacBooks and of course...
I have a MACBook Pro running 10.13.6 High Sierra. I am able to ping the laptop and initiate an SSH session. But when I enter the username root and password it tells me Access Denied. I can access the laptop locally using the same username root and password so I know that the password is not...
Using the latest version of XLD (forced to update since the 2014 version wouldn't play with High Sierra), occasionally a file or two or an entire album will not get added to iTunes despite my settings.
Anyone else come across this? Is it a bug in XLD, iTunes, or High Sierra? Any fixes?
