    Screen recording different resolution?

    I am trying to do a screen recording of my 13" 2018 Macbook. I know the screen resolution is 2560 x 1600. But when I try to select only a portion of the screen to record I get a number of 1440 x 900. How does that work? Can someone explain? Thanks
