I have a LG 27ML600M monitor that supports 75hz but when I set Mac OS to 75hz in the display settings it looks blurry. If I set it back to 60hz it looks normal. Any ideas on why this is happening? It is a 2010 Mac Pro with the AMD 5770 card.
Hi,
I’m getting into video editing and I’d like to buy a 4k monitor but I understand these are problematic on Macs due to the issues with scaling. Is it true that fonts look way too small on the screens?
I’m pretty old and now have to wear glasses and I peer at monitors even now.
I was...
I have an iMac with an external 4K monitor I use for video/photo editing.
My question is this: if I scale to gain more space, as available in the display settings in Mac OS, am I “wasting the 4K” point of my second monitor, or do I still benefit from increased pixel density/sharpness/clarity...
Hi Everyone,
Iv been searching for a little while and read loads but cant seem to find an answer, so i bought 2 thunderbolt displays in the middle of last year, i paid £30 for both! very very lucky to find someone selling them who didn't know what they were, both works fine when daisy chained...
Hello guys, I bought a m1 mini and I'm looking for a monitor to complete the setup.
I'm looking at used options, and I was in doubt between the Thunderbolt Display (in the box, conserved and already comes with the TB2-TB3 adapter) and the LG Ultrafine 21.5 4K (2017 model, without a box, but also...
I've just bought a Base 14" Pro and am looking for monitor to go with it, I've not had one before so don't know much about the best specs to pair with my Macbook. I came across this article - https://bjango.com/articles/macexternaldisplays/ which says displays within 110PPI and 220PPI are a bad...
I'm currently debating whether to get the base 14" or 16" MacBook Pro 2021. I was set on the 16" but am now thinking it would maybe be best to get a base 14" w/ a monitor, my question is, will 8 cores & 16GB in the base model be enough for programming on Xcode. Ideally I will want this laptop to...
I have a 27 inch iMac, 2020 (retina 5k). How do I attach TWO external monitors to my iMac? (I will be using 2 VESA arms attached to my desk.) Does iMac support this and what type of extra hardware will I need to purchase?
Hello everyone,
I've spent a fair amount of time on this Forum, reading posts about Monitors and the M1 chip. As you see by the Topic, this is for an M1 MacBook Pro. I have recently ordered a Dell S3221QS (32" 4k) Monitor, but due to the screen flickering problems it had to be returned.
I...
I have a 2015 iMac 5K 27" and a 27" LED Cinema display, side by side now. This is being replaced by an M1 Max 16" soon, so I'm looking for a new monitor solution.
My plan is to use the 16" display of the MBP along with my desktop monitor, so no matter what I choose, I'll have the "dual monitor...
Over a direct usb/thunderbolt to displayport connection, for the native 4k resolution, every few (3-5) seconds, the Dell S3221QS monitor goes black for 0.5 seconds at 60Hz. Lowering the refresh rate to 50Hz makes it every 20 or so seconds. At 30Hz, it holds a stable image over displayport...
I just tried to use my 4-year old iMac Pro as a (5k) display for a new MacBook Pro 16. The MacBook is roughly twice as fast as the iMac.
Unfortunately, it looks as if it is not reasonable to reuse the iMac as a monitor for the MacBook. Extending the display was not very difficult settings...
So yesterday I connected my 4K TV to my MBP via the HDMI Port to watch apple TV. But it's kinda unwatchable because the image begins to stutter every 30 seconds or so for 1-2 seconds, which is super annoying. Anyone got any clue why this could be? Image quality was flawless otherwise. This was...
Hello
Just got my AW3821DW monitor.
I am using a mac book pro 2018.
When connected with the display cable I cannot adjust brightness and the ambient sensor is off and get refresh rate 60.
With HDMI cable both are working but refresh rate is 30.
I have tried with 3 display cables.
I am looking for an advice on [reasonably priced / used] Full HD monitor with proper color rendition (preferably >90% Adobe RGB) and smallest pixel size (and therefore overall physical size, 22" or ideally less than that). Surprisingly this turned to be a non-trivial problem: say, there are...
Hello,
I just updated to 12.0.1 and now my NEC 4010 doesn't work.
Under previous OSX it has been possible to choose 1920x1080 with 50 or 60 Hz.
Now the only settings I am getting is 25 or 30 Hz, which the monitor doesn't accept.
Also the resolutions given in system settings are much fewer...
Update: Issues have still not been fixed in macOS 13 Ventura.
So macOS Monterey finally comes with support for external variable refresh rate monitors using FreeSync and GSync. I am using a FreeSync compatible Samsung monitor myself, which is working absolutely flawlessly in Windows machines...
TLDR: Skip to the second to last paragraph, and read the questions in the last one.
Hey! For the past few days I've been sifting through dozens of blogposts, Reddit threads, and tweetstorms, trying to find out what external display would play nicely with my (new) MacBook. I'm a programmer and...
Hi, hope all are well!
Is there any possible way to change a monitor's BPC setting? For some reason this monitor is defaulting to 10bpc, however it's causing flickering. It happens in Windows too. Once I set it to 8bpc it worked fine. I need to set it to 8bpc in macOS too. How can this be done...
I've ordered a new MacBook 16" M1 MAX to finally replace my MacBook Pro 15" Mid 2014... It's been a hard-working little thing for many years but I think it's time to put it up for retirement.
So I also need to replace my ageing Thunderbolt display with something more of this decade...
