My 10.6.8 starts ok and once logged in I can open a few windows but then I get the spinning ball after a few minutes and/ or if I try to open an app.
It is only half full and was running fine till this happened a few weeks ago.

After a week or so of running, sleep at night, work all day, sleep at night... I get inundated with the spinning beach ball... Activity monitor swears that CPU is about 5-10% at the time... Memory is anywhere between 12-20GB used. So truckloads...
