I tried the Steam controller and a PS4 controller, but the game is not recognizing the majority of the buttons. Any help would be most appreciated.

I recently purchased it on sale on Steam (Mac/PC), it's a good quality RTS game with nice visuals but... I don't like that I can't pause and issue commands while paused, like I could in Homeworld. This makes situational awareness and staying organized more of a challenge while you are dying. ;)...
