I just released PPCMC 7.2.6, and I have made the first ever native Intel build of PowerPC Media Center 7. I had to figure out myself how to fix FFmpeg to compile on Mac OS X 10.4 Intel (PowerPC was just fine). And then... I got all x86 assembly optimizations enabled in the FFmpeg/FFplay and...
Hi all,
Is there a consensus on which OS is better for a 12” PowerBook G4?
I’ve installed Tiger on a 867mhz model, and Leopard on a 1.5Ghz. Both with max RAM (1125 on the low end), both with a SSD upgrade (mSATA to IDE).
What’s surprised me is that the Tiger machine feels just a touch...
I ported this Sega genesis emulator to Mac OS X 10.3.9+ PowerPC last year. The problem with DGEN is there are no assembly optimizations available for Mac OS X, PowerPC OR Intel. This means the emulation cores are all in C and not as fast as the assembly codes that can run on Linux. So the...
Hi all,
this is quite a silly question but to improve the thread I am including some pictures of what one would say it's a brand new 2006 Mac Mini which is really the interesting part of this post. Mac Mini 2006 was my first Mac ever, unfortunately my old Mini died some years ago. This year I...
Finally, Half-Life on Intel Tiger is now available for download!
https://alex-free.github.io/half-life-tiger/

Mods and other GoldSrc games should also work! I have tested this on a Mac Mini running Mac OS X 10.4 which has an Intel...
PPCMC 7 is now 1.5 years old, and has seen 25 updates since version 7.0.
Recently it has come to my attention that something weird is going on with using VLC and QuickTime to watch YouTube livestreams. Apparently Google changed something, I think it’s to do with the codec/format somehow...
Whilst looking for ways to get some level of basic emoji support for the Clouded Leopard project (Snow Leopard for PowerPC), I learnt of a nifty way to integrate a basic, early emoji support for Snow Leopard, Leopard, and even Tiger.
This workaround for what I guess amounts to backmojis can be...
IOQuake 3 is an open source Quake III game engine. Awhile ago, I ported the latest version to OpenBSD and got it added to the official OpenBSD ports tree. Now with the power of Panther SDL2 I have restored Mac OS X 10.3.9/10.4.x compatibility to the latest version of IOQuake3. Previously, Mac OS...
I am trying to download Star Wars: Battlefront on my iBook G4 running Tiger. I learned you need to download Stuffit Expander, but this doesn't work. When I download the file, it says "Disk Failed to Mount" or "not recognized." Is there a way to fix it or am i doing something wrong?
I gather from searching around that the answer amounts to “not possible”:
From SL onward, the default file name for screencapture is “Screen shot YYYY-MM-DD at HH:mm:ss.[format]”.
Pre-SL, the default file name was “Picture [x].[format]”, where “x” was a sequential digit.
In Tiger or Leopard...
Hey everyone, thanks for the advice on my last thread. Decided I'm going to end up attempting to install Tiger on my G3 Clamshell. (300MHz)
That said, I need a Tiger install on CDs instead of a DVD, because of the age of the machine. I had someone mention that there was a CD-Burnable Tiger...

The main use of my iMac G4 is typing. On my main computer however, I'm used to inserting various special characters on the fly by typing something specific; Global macros were created in the usual System Preferences ➜ Keyboard ➜ Text, but I also have app-specific macros that I created in...
I have a titanium powerbook g4 mercury, with a 500mhz processor, 20gb of hard drive space, and macos 10.3.9 installed on it. The model number is m5884. I have followed this tutorial: to try and install MacOS 10.4 on my machine. I have had a couple issues. I have a 16GB Sandisk USB 2.0 flash...
Happy 2023! Welcome to the community WikiPost. We will be discussing OS X Leopard on G3’s (and G4’s).
As of early 2023, the guide is “active”. The content has been updated, however, we are still looking for someone to finish the shell script to automate the install.

If you want...
Just got this Powerbook G4 (A1138) and it came with 10.5 on it. The reason why I bought it was to experiment with Tiger as I never had the chance before and I wanted to use Classic mode on it as well! Now where the problems start: the dvd drive is completely broken. I watched a couple of videos...
[ Title Image Coming Soon ]
After 3+ months in development and much longer in the making, I'm pleased to announce what will be my final dual-project for PowerPC OS X.
Introducing AquaSuite, a specially curated collection of software for Mac OS X Tiger under the purpose of being a locally...
I’ve been having problems getting SD video playing on an iMac G3 (snow 600mhz). I don’t remember having this problem 13 years ago when I used G3s daily.
The video in question is originally an MKV h264 but its in SD (Star Trek DS9 if anyones curious). I’ve tried every player known to work in...
Introducing AquaWeb micro, an all-in-one adaptation of TenFourFoxPEP built into a heavily modified TenFourFoxBox in order to bring extremely high performance browsing to Mac OS X Tiger, Leopard, and Sorbet Leopard.
TenFourFox is required; Quartz Extreme graphics are recommended; Core Image...
Not sure if this is the right place for posting this, but I recently got my hands on a 17" PowerBook G4 with a wiped hard drive.
I have a .dmg of 10.4 that I'm trying to write to a USB flash drive so I can boot from it and install Tiger.
I don't have access to any system running OS X so I can't...
