Or do you actually really mean Frisbee and Boules???

I do... :p

Perversity and rock and roll usually come later, after the cucumber sandwiches. Last year, as the day wore on, it tended to get a bit more debauched.

But, to the point, every summer weekend in London has one or more events going on. Shifting the date around to accommodate everything and everyone is a fruitless exercise, and for those who are planning to come from outside London, knowing a date far in advance is very helpful for making plans.

The discussion of a date has been going on for some time elsewhere and no-one objected at the time when it was first suggested.

If people want to go to Wembley or watch Live Earth on telly, then that's OK too. Last year, there were some World Cup matches on TV but that didn't stop those of us who were there having a good time.

Indeed, and I understand the importance of selecting a date well in advance.

However, choosing the day of likely the years biggest one day music event, and the day the most famous cycling race in the world is in London for the first time in years, hardly seems like a good choice. But the date looks good so I guess..

It was chosen before the Wembley fixture and no-one thought about the Tour De France. It's set so we'll just have to manage, as difficult and as onerous as that will be. ;)

It'll be fine... :)

Indeed.... why do you think I'm going to the gym... just to make it easier to carry all the boules home at the end of the day!

But... I thought it was my turn to carry your boules home this year! ;) I think Piarco had 'em last time around.

(ahh... cheeky boules jokes. I wasn't going to say anything... but thought I'd just roll with it...)

I happened to be in Regents Park yesterday and visited the site of last year's picnic... ahhh, the memories... :)

Spooky, I was in Regent's Park yesterday too and visited the site of last year's picnic... ahhh, the mammaries... :)

You could train it down – there's a few of us coming from Scotland. Join us at Newcastle! :D

I'll probably be one of them, I was planning on being in london at the time but it's looking like I have to be in edinburgh over the summer.

Bit of a long shot, but is anyone who knows sign language planning to come? (British sign, American sign, whatever?) Would be rather nice if t'was so.

I'm starting to get the idea that under 18s wont be so welcome so i doubt i'll be there
Not the case at all: it's not all heavy drinking and adult-rated. Last year there was a frisbee section, boules, dogs, and much silliness. You'll fit right in, whatever age you are. :)

It's not? Ohhh :(

*makes other arrangements*

Hehe, just kidding. Yes last year there were a couple of under-18s. Seriously, everyone's welcome. We'll just confiscate your alcopops ;) :D

I was 17 at the last picnic, had a blast, there were a fair few minors about.

I have some smashing news! I will be back in England 4th July... so I *fingers crossed* should be there

Argh! I might be away...but I'll come if possible, and I have invited a friend (who would be away with me, if I'm away)...

EDIT: I can come...with a friend or two :)
