EDIT: See below for information on the 1.1.3 jailbreak.

First update. There's now a way to return to 1.1.1 formware if you have updated to 1.1.3.
Though not entirely jailbreak related, it's prgogress
Here's the link https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=4771080#post4771080

UPDATE 2: There is now a way for users who's iPod came with 1.1.3 to downdgrade to 1.1.1. Edit: See UPDATE 5

UPDATE 3: According to the links posted in a post a couple of pages on, it's done :)

No instructions as yet but should be here soon, keep ya posted.

UPDATE 4: The jailbreak vid above has been proved on various sites to be real. The developers are holding out until the release of the SDK to release the jailbreak so that Apple can't find the hole the they are using and plug it. With this strategy, when the official apps start to appear and the jailbreak is released, we get the best of both worlds with both the official apps and the unofficial ones we are using now.

UPDATE 5: The information posted in UPDATE 2 is for iPhones only as the iPod can be downgraded by entering Recovery mode and restoring (see a jailbreak guide if you do not know what recovery mode is).

UPDATE 6: The iPhone Dev Team's jailbreak has been released. Here's teh link http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/27/dev-team-1-1-3-jailbreak-for-iphone-ipod-touch-now-available/

probly a really stupid suggetion, but I wanted to try.

this program:
http://code.google.com/p/iphonelist/

gives you access, without ssh, to the aplications folder of you Ipod touch, and iPhone, I just wonderd if it would work in a 1.1.3 of either to use it to put the installer app directly into the apps folder and therefore be able to install stuff.

would this work, if so, someone that has 1.1.3 already installed, could you test it?

thank you.

again, sorry if it's kinda a noob question, and im sure there is some reason for it not to work, but it would be great if it did.

With the jailbreak comes access to the root files of the iPod and so you can access and modify the apps folder and all other files for that matter, but due to 1.1.3 not being jailbroken, there is not this ability to access those files.
Sorry :/

I'll give it a try.

I just tried the iPhoneList Application on my 1.1.3 iPod touch. The amazing this is that those TapTap Revolution Songs I downloaded when I was on 1.1.2 show up in this program. Also, TouchFree.exe folders are there too. So, Apple didn't get rid of every 3rd party thing you put on the iPod.:apple: Still exploring, I'll comment back If I get a breakthrough with anything...

EDIT: Installer.App is still on the iPod! Its just hidden, still working at it...

EDIT 2: I found all of my 3rd Party Apps saved folders. Such as Summerboard, and such.

Good stuff. So can you access the root files suck as the apps folder?

Yea, I'm restarting my iPod right now, because I just dropped the old Stocks.app inside of that folder.

EDIT: Nothing came up on the Springboard. Still rummaging around...

If you can view the files on your 1.1.3 touch, can you extract the Google maps folder??

It should be called: maps.app

I haven't purchased the $20 Update yet. If you are willing to give me a copy of it, I'll check. I probably won't purchase it until later.

Can you check anyway? As long as you have 1.1.3 you have the apps on your ipod.

"Purchasing" the apps just updates your plist files, if my hunch is correct.

Can you just look in the Applications folder using that software for Maps.app and see if you can copy everything out?

Just purchased them, and no. No luck, the only Apps now are still Installer.App. The Google Maps "Find Me" thing doesn't even work! One thing I do notice though is that all of my settings from my Apps from 1.1.2 still work. Such as my email, I didn't have to configure anything, it just worked like it used to. Same with Weather, Stocks, and some of my Notes are still there too.

So using iphonelist you can't find any Apps anywhere?

There are quicklinks to the Application folders as well as a file explorer on the left hand side.

I'm right now on the phone with Apple, because the Software Update worked for a couple minutes, then it stopped. It asked me to Restore, and obviously I had to, and when I got back to the 1.1.3 page, it's not letting me redownload those Apps. I just want my $20 back and a ticket back to 1.1.1.:(

I hate Apple right now.

EDIT: After being on the phone for a half-an-hour, Apple is refunding me and my $20. :) But they did say that there being swamped with all the support calls coming in on the iPod touch software update...or better yet, complaints about it. ;) 1.1.1, here I come! :p :apple:

Ha ha, glad to see they are getting complaints :)eek:) and that you're stickin' with 1.1.1.

Jailbreak 1.1.3 wireware

yo! Does any1 know how long time or days it is before the jailbreak for 1.1.3 is ready? I am so bored of this. I have been waiting for like a day, byt it feels like a yesr! Does any1 knows it?

Using that YouTube video I've managed to get 1.1.1 back!

Anyone tried upgrading to 1.1.3 whilst using the jailbreak?

Be patient. I don't know how the hell I understood what you said, but just wait. If you are using a jailbroken 1.1.2/1.1.1 then be calm, if you are using 1.1.3, then I have no idea why you upgraded before a jailbreak was available if you want it so much.

Bitter.

Hell i wanna buy the touch now but i'm afraid i'll toss it for a salad if it's unhackable.

Does anybody know what weeks go with the 1.1.3 ?!
