Quick question, are the ratings changeable? Like what happens if the new one comes out in a year? Can I drop my aforementioned 10 down to an 8 so I can give the new one a 10? I think that would be the best, or a field from 0-100 might be better.

Kind of - the rating is time-based - and that time is NOW!

So today it's a 10.

In a year, when Rev 2 is released, then Rev 1 might rate a 7 at THAT time. But today it's a 10.

For me, it's not a perfect 10, but it's way up there. 8-9 for sure.

I give the iPad an 8. Better then I expected, but small improvements are needed (cursor controls for text boxes, multitasking, tabs in safari).

Still better then any umpc or PDA I have purchased in the last 5 years.
 
7 till Apple drops OS 4.0. It feels like something out of the future but not being able to have skype run in the bg is ruining it for me. Other than that the software running on that thing is top-notch.
 
Unfortunately, the lack of a free task switcher for a jailbroken device (and all the updates that are needed) is pulling me toward the non-jailbreak side. I guess there are a few months until 4.0 drops that we can see what the jb devs do :)
 
8 for now.

Potential to an unqualified 10 in the next few months with OS 4, additional apps i.e. Hulu, CBS, and a larger selection of books.
 
10. It's not perfect, but because it is so amazing and such a game-changer, and because I cannot put the thing down, it's a 10. Big time.
 
I give the iPad an 8 out of the gate. There is definitely room to grow in OS, H/W, and Content.

But considering the patience, thought, ingenuity, planning, content, distribution, and hardware that Apple was able to put together when so many others have failed, I give Apple a 10 for vision and execution.

It is revolutionary. Look at what it's done in a short two months to so many industries.....

  • PC Manufacturers - HP gobbled up Palm and killed the slate. Everybody & their brother is scrambling for a "light" OS and touch interfaces.

  • Software Developers - Apps
  • Web Developers
  • Software Publishers - Adobe

Not bad for a two month old.
 
If this is now,as discussed, then we have a 10. When 4.0 comes out we will have a 10 with the previous at an 8.:rolleyes:
