Hello All,

I am about done with Apple (I say that but I can't leave because I am so ****ing sucked into their ecosystem) but once every 3 months or so I get this damn issue were my Standy and Usage time match and my phone just drains like none other. My iPhone 7 on 10.1.1 has been unplugged for a half hour and is already at 97%....normally I can listen to a podcast on my 40 minute commute and be at 99% or 100% by the time I get to work. I have already tried a hard reset and reseting all settings, deleting mail accounts, etc. I know the "answer" is dfu restore and clean install but no, I am sorry I am fed up with this ****. That literally takes hours and I need my phone just to work like in the old days of Apple. Also when you do a clean install you can't get your health data back because Apple won't give me the option to store that in the cloud.

Also the same damn thing is happening on my iPad Air 2 on the same update. I literally charge it up to 100% and unplug it before I leave for the day. I let it sit at home doing nothing and just like my iPhone the usage and standby time match and the battery is down to like 70% just sitting doing nothing. It used to last a month if it was idle. Does anyone else have this problem or a solution to it.

Update: I have deleted literally every non apple app off the phone and same **** is still happening.

Have you tried to set as new after DFU install of soft ?

Have no problems on 9.3.5 but iOS 10 at first build I had before downgrade was shi*y

I did a clean install and it doesn't seem to help. I use my phone mostly to listen to podcasts. Using Safari or viewing any app seems to make the battery drop a percent every 2 maybe 3 minutes. I'm hoping a software update will fix this mess. I have a 7 plus.

But you started it from scratch or get things from backup ? It's very important because there may be damaged backup or something.
For sure it's software based problem.

I Restored as a new phone. I did slide some apps over after the clean install. I did not install all my previous apps.

try installing the iOS 10.2 beta 2 and see if its fixed there. There is a public beta . Its not the best or even a decent solution but it might help you temporarily until its fully released if it does fix your drain issue

Standby and Usage being the same means only one thing. Something is stuck in the background. Its probably a rogue app. If you use Facebook or Messenger, they are notorious for getting stuck in the background and running even if the app itself is closed and background refresh is off. If it is not released to either of these apps, the next common thing to get stuck is mail. Try deleting iCloud and any other email accounts and re-add them. I get you are frustrated, but to say you are done with Apple because something is stuck in the background is a little much.

Have you looked to see what's running? Something is clearly running to cause that issue. I would check iCloud and maybe sign out reboot and sign back in. Or you could restore as new and see if things are sorted out then restore your backup (iTunes preferably). It's
Not iOS 10.1.1 causing this but something in your particular configuration or iCloud struggling to function correctly. Just need to find what that is and go from there.

Like I said I have deleted every app on my phone and my email accounts. I have done a DFU mode and did a restore from a backup, yes I understand I should do a clean install but I refuse to loose my health data. I shouldn't have to restart my phone and waste hours trying to figure out a issue.

Regarding being done with Apple...this isn't the first time. (and realistically I am not, but with the overpriced lackluster upgrades, software bugs, crappy quality control and overall lack of real innovation that Apple of old had I really am considering it). I feel like I deal with this issue once every couple of months and have yet to find a solution other then DFU clean install which is a bull **** solution.

You cant backup your health data from iTunes if you agree to encrypt it.+ try iOS 10.2

I am still bitter about my 2012 Retina that developed burn in and Apple wouldn't do **** about it. It was a laptop sold as having the best display in and a little over a year later it developed terrible burn in). I feel like I deal with this issue once every couple of months and have yet to find a solution other then DFU clean install which is a bull **** solution.

Yea, but the problem is I can't restore from a backup because everyones lame solution is do a clean install and don't restore from a backup....Unless you know of a way of getting just health data back.

If you have a Mac download Xcode. (I'm assuming you do because you are invested in the ecosystem) Next time this happens plug your device in and launch instruments. You can check the processes running in the background. You can then deduce the issue.

i have an iphone 5c running iOS 10.1.1 and it seems to have awesome battery life, my iPhone 4s i would have to charge it by 2 pm if i unplugged it at 5:30 am. Got my iPhone 5c yesterday it has iOS 10.1.1 on it and took it off the charger at 5:30 am and it still has 45% battery life left.

My battery life has been insanely good on my iPhone until this issue....

There are like 8 apps and tons of processes.. Any way to narrow it down? My cpu usage when the phone is locked is at like 30-40%

Strange. I have both my iPad Pro 9.7 running the first 10.1.1 and my iPhone 7+ running the newest 10.1.1. Neither of them have the issues you are facing and I did not set either up as new. I hope someone finds a solution for you.

Okay...so I have found if I sign out of iCloud the issue goes away...but if I sign back in it comes back...This is so irritating.

I do not know how to narrow it down in Xcode. There have been people posting for years that if you turn off Safari syncing in iCloud it increases battery life. I am 100% skeptical because I have never experienced excessive battery drain from Safari syncing, but it might be worth a shot to disable it.

Okay, I know it's against the "rules" but I may start a new thread. I have narrowed down the issue. When I sign out of iCloud the standby and usage clocks start working correctly. But as soon as I sign in the issue comes back. Even with all the features disabled but being signed in it still had the issue.

It might be better to edit the title of your thread rather than create a new one and update the original post.

Two versions of 10.1.1? That might explain why when I look for new update over air nothing...But, when I connect to iTunes I get another update for the same 10.1.1 on my iPad Pro 9.7 and 6S Plus..

Why are there two versions of the same iOS?

The latter was a re-release for probably installation issues. Its only available via iTunes because its not required if you are on 10.1.1.

I have heard of folks having to change their password in iCloud and for some kooky reason that solved it. Cant say from experience if that would help but I have certainly seen folks comment on that before. Also it could be a corrupt iCloud backup. If you have iTunes I would get a backup to iTunes then delete all iCloud backups and see if that solves it.
