This should not be required if Apple wrote it's upgrade scripts correctly.

One of the whole reaons for having a long public beta program is to iron out this type problems with some decent coding...

Basically it's just sloppy, which appears to be where Apple is rapidly heading across their OS range.

#FAIL

Honestly, the fail is on you. This is why I have the greatest respect for Apple's support. If I had to take a call from a customer like this with such whacked out logic I would just hang up on them.

I feel sorry for your computer. :(

But it was only 3 for the first beta of 10.9.1. So we may see the first 10.10.1 beta soon.

I think we may see the first for the wifi fix very soon and then another later for everything else.

I never really even encountered any bugs or issues with the beta releases. Tbh it is impossible to make software completely and utterly bug free. At least someone shall always experience an issue or two with any piece of software or OS.

I cannot believe that this OS release is more unstable in general as if it was what the hell is the point in the public beta program? Are people just signing up for early access and not using the feedback tool? I mean, I would think more bugs are being brought to their attention with list release enabling them to fix things faster.

Yosemite release is definitely no more buggy than any other. It's just buggy for some as pretty much any piece of software is. Would take years of extensive testing and bug blitzing to make it even close to 100% stable.

So this pre-release 10.10.1 that has shown up in my Software Update - is it installable on the final Yosemite 10.10, or - as with the public beta - would it mean that you can't then update to the final 10.10.1 when it is released?

To go from the PB to the final of 10.10 I had to download the whole 5GB installer.

I have the dropped wi-fi issue so I'm keen to see if this fixes it.

Updating should be OK.

The minor problem people are facing at the moment (both developers and public beta testers) is that if they chose to do a clean install of the public release, this beta was not showing up in their mac app store.

Apple realised this and quickly made a yosemite seed configuration utility for developers, just as they previously did for public beta testers.

So in the case of clean installs of public release, you just have to install the relevant seed configuration utility for your program and then they should show up in the mac app store again.

It is unlikely you will need to get the full installers for 10.10.1, 10.10.2, etc., because for public releases of these, the deltas and combos will be published on apple's website anyway.

Nevetheless, I intend to get the full installers anyway for 2 reasons:

1. Make bootable usbs of 10.10.1, 10.10.2, etc

2. Run the full installer to update the recovery partition, since deltas and combos don't update the recovery partition.

I'll download the deltas and combos anyway too though because they can also be useful in case a reinstall is necessary.
