2008 Macbook Pro with 10.10.3

I bought this macbook pro used and it had a brand new battery. 5 hours of usage while using 10.6 Snow Leopard. Upgraded to 10.10.3 based on recommendations. I now get 2.5 - 3 hours of battery life. What can I do to resolve this issue. To get my macbook pro to savor 4 hours of battery life would be a blessing. :apple:

Look in the Activity Monitor and use the CPU tab to see which processes are using a lot of cpu and therefore battery. If nothing obvious in there then switch to the Energy tab, post screenshots if you need to.

Quite possible it is Spotlight indexing or some other temporary activity post-upgrade that will settle down.

hi

i have early 2014 macbook air. core i7, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD.

battery life with 10.10.3 is now averaging around 6+hours (actual).

straight out of recharge that has shown 100% for at least around 30 minutes or so typically first indicates about 7 hours 30 minutes or so, but actual battery life works out to be about 6.5 hours.

battery health is showing at 94% using Battery Monitor app.
other Battery Monitor app stats:
Design Capacity: 7,150 mAh
Full Capacity: 6,729 mAh
Cycles: 169

core i7 expected battery life vs.core i6 expected battery life is however very different. so the above data is useful only for core i7 systems.

I felt a huuuge drop from Mavericks to Yosemite with the battery life.... I am an owner of a MAcbook pro (lately 2011)... The battery is still on a good usage, but to be honest the update ruined by 50% of usage of my laptop.. somebody expiriencing the same?
