Hmm, wheres my aa??! I guess Apple just waited for me to update and sent me an update without aa

can anyone here help me?

10.1.5 has support for Nikon Firewire cameras?
Which Nikon digital camera has Firewire?
I have been holding off buying because I thought they were all USB.
hmmm....

My eyes are going screwy

Anybody else finding it difficult to get the optimum aa settings to comfortably read Entourage text on a TiBook? Without having to set the fonts H-U-G-E??

Or should I just go get my eyes tested...:p

Hi maiku,

I have found www.dpreview.com/ to be an excellent site regarding digital cameras. The site has a facility that you can search for different specs, like firewire. Currently only the high end models offer it :(

It just needs some company ??? to release an affordable high spec FIREWIRE camera with a built in 10GB hard drive... Hmmm, I wonder :D

Excellent update BTW, aa text is brilliant. Has anyone else noticed though that text below a certain size (I noticed it superscript) still reverts back to the old rendering. Kind of annoying because it makes it difficult to read. I can't seem to find any options for changing the size that this cuts of at in word. I already have the option set for smallest size in 'General' pref pane.

Still looking for the next IE though!

does anyone know if this works with the ibooks? i have a 500mhz ibook and i've had the same problem with external monitors. the lid must be open. unfortunately im at work and have no access to a monitor.

What about Rage II+ support ?

I thought apple had pretty much got screwed for promising it would work on the REV A iMacs and older G3 models with this chip ?

I've only got a RageII+, even though I bought my beige G3 DT around the time the B & W G3s were out, I ended up with some grey import model or something. in the UK, by the time the desktops were using 300Mhz G3 CPUs, the motherboard had hit Rev C, they had EIDE slave support, 256Mb SDRAM support and most importantly, a Rage Pro. I spent an extra £25 on the 4Mb VRAM upgrade too and it was only after a month or so when I realised I'd been sold a real POS and should have paid the extra £100 and chanced it with the B & W G3 afterall.

My little sob story aside, people have been expecting support for the RageII+ from day one, we're still not getting it, I know it's one lame graphics chipset but surely supporting it would mean apple is keeping it's original promise about supporting all models of G3 (apart from that rush job of a powerbook G3 they brought out at first).

If I am not mistaken, Apple has said that ATI has decided not to develop support for that chipset. That the only one that would be would be the Rage Pro. That is why there has been a lawsuit filed in California over the issue.

Mail?!

Please tell me that I am not so flighty that I just never noticed that you can search the mail.app! This is new, right? It is a VERY welcome addition to the program. Please, just tell me that I am not getting old enough to miss something like that for months....

No they will not. Steve said that there would be one more update to X.1.x before X.2 was released. So this is it for updates until the big one. I cannot wait. They have there work cut out for them, but I think that they will be able to pull it off.

If you're referring to the search bar below, then no, it has been there for quite some time.

smooooooooooth update through Software Update over here.

I dont' see what everyone is talking about AA in Internet Explorer. Is this a setting that I should turn on????

Thanks

No, the AA is in Word, or all of office actually. The thing that I am really impressed with is the 2D support for the Rage Pro. Sheets and the Genie are very fluid now. I cannot wait to see the final build of X.2. There is no way that they are showing us everything.
i also have rage pro and i didn't noticed any interface speed improvements except faster IE scrolling..

Unsanity released Silk

In case anyone missed it, Unsanity just released the haxie Silk that gives aa to all Carbon apps. This works ok in IE on my iBook 500. Some of the text renders "fat" but not much, and highlighting isn't exactly right. It's free, too!

I'd go ahead and make that appointment. My Entourage looks just peachy.

In other news, what happened with Bluetooth? First they pull the adapter and now the software support doesn't materialize as expected. Is Apple backing off support or what?

i am having an odd problem. well, not a problem per se... just something i don't like.

you know how when you have classic open, mousing over the dock gives some blocky whiteness and whatnot? well, i am getting that with the new update without having classic open.. and i hadn't been getting it in with .1.4. it's not as bad and noticeable as it is with classic open.... but it's there for sure....

anyone else notice this?

Can you tell how to do this?
With a USB keyboard/mouse plugged in, close the lid and the PowerBook will go to sleep. Then click a mouse button (or press a key) and it will wake up and you can use it with the lid closed. ... Or, I can, at least. :)

iSUB and Sound

One question... How many releases will it take for Apple to sort the sound in OSX !!!!! I mean here we are at 10.1.5 and still no proper iSub support
it bangs it pops and is generally a mess.... and this is a product pushed by apple ;-(((((((( thats all I want .. is it too much to ask to have base features sorted before adding frills ?

Sorry to ask a question with what is probably a VERY obvious answer but,... where is the 10.1.5 update? I can't find it on the Apple site anywhere.

Thanks
