Thank you!
Just caught up reading the replies.

You don't need us to tell you what to do with your purchase. It's your money, your usage, and ultimately, what brings you happiness.

I love my iPads more than any other Apple device I own. So, I am always excited to hear someone purchase a new iPad because Apple will invest more and more into future devices.

Hope you enjoy your new iPad Pro and upgrade it again next year hahah!

Thanks! i wasn’t really telling anyone what I intend to do; rather, given that I have benefitted by the insights of many here, I thought providing an account of my thinking and purchase decision - though not necessary - would be a way to acknowledge the inputs.

Also, unless there is something really pathbreaking (which I doubt), I will not be upgrading any time soon.

I went from a 10.5” Pro to 11” pro I and I will echo what others have said, it was a very marginal upgrade. I ended up spending just south of 600$ CAD (net; after selling my older device) on the new iPad and pencil, and I don’t think it was worth that difference in the end. A10X vs A12X made no difference to my OneNote, GoodNotes or Notability use. Both had 120hz True Tone and laminated display, 10.5” had slimmer side bezels actually, and both had more or less same cameras and ram, similar quad speakers, Touch ID was a bit more convenient than Face ID, no difference in wifi spec...I couldn’t simply justify what I spent the 600$ extra on. But in the end the deal was done and I had sold my 10.5” Pro so alas, I had to suck up that cost and found positive utility in the pencil 2. I won’t be making marginal upgrades in the future, and will wait for the next design or significant change.

given your trade in value worth, I wouldn’t think of performing any upgrade

Edit: though I see you decided to do so. As long as you’re happy with your purchase. Our opinions are just that; opinions. In the end you work hard for your money and you should spend it however you want, whenever you want a new device. Life is short haha. Enjoy your new device.

Thanks. Well, the problem (if one can call it that, though I think the word “optimised” is perhaps more appropriate) with the iPad (at least as seen through the lens of my particular use case) is that there seems to be little that can be improved. In my case, the iPad will not be my primary device in the foreseeable future. It will be an important and even indispensable device, but not a primary one (I mean this specifically in the context of my work).

I look at it this way...A newer CPU? Check. More RAM. Check. More storage? Check. Newer/ more convenient connector? Check. Newer design? Check. One year of warranty? Check. Better Pencil in terms of charging? Check. Better battery life? Check. Potentially higher trade in value after approx 3 years? Likely (as compared to the 10.5 which then would have been 6 years+ old by then).

Given the above, my spending $860 (US) which included the two accessories seems well worth the cost and effort. Of course, this evaluation is specific to me and will obviously vary from person to person.
