I've used the 12w I have from my Air on all my devices since I got it. Love how fast it charges my phone. Does the 29w kick up the iPhone6 charge time even more? That would rock! LOL

Fast charge at higher wattage generally uses up less electricity as slow charging anything generally amounts in some energy loss over an extended period of time, thus fast charging loses less energy.

I was excited to find an alternative to the $49 Apple charger, but the USB-C port on this seems to support 5V x 3A max, not 14.5V x 2A needed for fast charging iPad Pro unfortunately.
Yeah, I'm going to wait until Anker comes out with an official solution. I use a lot of their products and they're generally good quality for half the price of Apple. It's also unclear to me, at this point, if I benefit much from fast charging in the 10.5" model which has a smaller battery. In my normal use, an iPad usually lasts at least two days, sometimes three, and then I just charge it overnight. But it does suck to stay tethered to the wall when I want to kick back with it. I actually ran Anker's 6 port USB charger into the center console of my couch so that I can charge it easier while sitting in the evening.

Ill have to try the 'i was plugged in and the battery was still dropping' @ apple tomorrow, see if I get any love.

You're going to have to wait for some time. Anker couldn't figure it out either - I wrote a review on one of their products that was supposed to be able to: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-...ef=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B01D8C6ULO

As far as I can tell, there are only 2 chargers that can charge the iPad Pro @ 29W - Apple's 29W USB-C charger (not even their 61W and 87W chargers) and the Ventev 45W Charger.

See https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/87w-usb-c-charger-doesnt-charge-12-9-ipad-pro-29w.2015416/ for a more informed discussion.

Unfortunately I don't have either of the new iPads yet to test out if the newer ones have better compatibility, but as I understand it, it's more an issue with the USB-C to Lightning cable itself being limited.

It probably won't work.

Has fast charging on the 10.5 been confirmed by anyone here? I see reports that say it will fast charge, but strange the description on Apple.com for the USB-C to Lightning Cable doesnt mention the 10.5 and only the 12.9

"You can also use this cable with your Apple 29W, 61W, or 87W USB-C Power Adapter to charge your iOS device, and even take advantage of the fast-charging feature on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro."

This link shows both 12.9 models and 10.5 with Fast Charge capabilities: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202105

I can test tonight...

I regularly charge my 10,5 with the 29w charger of my MB 12. Very fast: I bring the iPad from ab 50% to full charge in ab one hour, but can be a little more, I am not looking the charge rate all the time.

Question:

Those fast charging with the 29w adapter and 10.5 iPad Pro.....

Are you on iOS 11 beta?

I’ve the right kit but I’m thinking the usb cable I bought is either knackered or a fake. I just get 12w out of my setup.

I need to rule out iOS 11 as a potential cause.

Are you using a power meter to confirm it is 12W?

I believe the iPad Pro negotiates 12W charging if you're above 90%. Try draining your iPad to below that percentage (70-80% at least) then test again.

Where did you get the cable from? I tried one from Amazon and it didn’t work.

It has to be Apple's USB-C to Lightning cable. As far as I know, no other cable works - it was best to buy it when Apple had a discount on it for a while.
I don't believe the Apple USB-C to Lightning cables were part of the discounts previously offered.

I almost wanna get the 29w charger and the cable, but... I rarely have to charge my 10.5 during the day. I can let it sit over night on the included charger.. or just plugged into my iMac. I hate not buying stuff though.. lol.

Yep. They were. They were discounted by $6 (usd). $19 for the 1M and $29 for the 2M cable. Now they are back at $25 and $35 respectively. Discount was there until April 1.
