Finder>Preferences>Advanced.

btw how do u know monolingual works if your HD space hasn't changed?
just wondering...am gonna try monoL see how it goes here...

EDIT: running it now, and have (already) regained over a gig worth of space. try logging out & back in?

Monolingual: so it seems to work. I restarted but my free space remains the same. I don't know why. I would like to gain some gigs.

dude, did you go there?

Finder>Preferences>Advanced.
UNCHECK "Show warning before emptying the trash".

as for monolingual, WHILE it was running, my free space increased.
AFTER it ran, said i had regained "1.5gigs".
THEN my drive showed NO DIFFERENCE.
so i feel your pain...

Finder: everything ok now.

Monolingual: maybe it does not work properly. We took the same (no) results...

if i click command-T, a blank tab opens at the end of the window.
(if i control-click on a link and select 'open in new tab', it opens next to the current tab)

isn't that correct? new tab at the end of the tabs...??

I mean, I surf on a page, I click a link, and the new tab which came from this link, does not put itself as the latest one in the row of all opened tabs. Instead of this, the link open a tab, besides the current tab.
This was not the way snow leopard and safari behave.
There should be a way to set safari to open any link as tab, in the end of the row of all opened tabs, as it did till now, till lion.

seems to make sense as it now is; it puts the link right at your fingertips...
i've set (in prefs) to make that link active when u select it as well...

click on the little cog wheel at the top and go down to show view options

then untick show preview column

(I still cannot believe that in apple they are not able to give people a usable file browser! )

Ok, no preview now, but no info too!
In snow leopard when I click on a file in column view, I could see its properties, filesize etc. With 'preview' on, I can see properties too. With 'preview' off, 'properties' off too!
How can I fix it?

This does not make sense! Firefox, add any new tab produced by a link, at the end of tab row! As safari always did, till now.

So, there is no way to work with safari as I did all the previous years?

makes sense to me. :D
in fact, in SL, i used Glims to make it work as it now works.

am sure someone will come out with a freeware/shareware tweak...

Up Arrow not working

I've searched but can't seem to find anyone else having the same problem. New Mac Air 13 with Lion pre-installed, both the physical keyboard on the air and on the Bluetooth keyboard the up triangle doesn't work.

Doesn't matter if I'm in Excel, cannot move up, or in Safari, can't move up with the up triangle. I can move in any other direction.

Any thoughts???

minor quirk:

i can't access the search window dropdown (i.e. my previous searches), UNLESS i go OUT of fullscreen mode.
once i go BACK to it, my searches are accessible.

anyone else??

If I buy Lion I can download it as many times I want?

On different machines running SL, yes you can, as long as they are all using the same Apple ID. ;)

Just tried and it seems I have the same thing too. Didn't even notice. Went in and out of fullscreen, and it's started working as you said. We'll see if it stops working again.

launchpad is useless, the application shortcut is already on the dock.

what's wrong with Launchpad? i organized my most-used apps on the default page, and the rest in folders on a second page.

now (on my macbook), a simple gesture, apps show, i click once on the one i want, and i'm working.

seems great to me...

It’s a big improvement over a magnified Dock.

Just to enquire, is the lion OS bought from App Store tagged to the user ID?

Or can I just share my lion bootable DVD with friends in the event they did not make a copy of the OS to restore?

Yes but it’s not really necessary, as it turns out. Via Target Mode, you could use the first Mac’s Recovery Partition to install Lion on a second Mac. See if it works. But the simplest solution is to just copy the app (before running it!!).

Here's a little thing: The more I use Lion, the more annoying it gets. Mission Control is by far the worst thing ever!

Mission Control? Really?

I love it! Allows me to quickly get to windows beneath one another.

Best feature of LION, IMHO.

(though I miss Windowshade X)

must say I am starting to find things annoying after a weeks use, nothing major, just annoying

I tried to like the natural scroll, used it for 2 days but hated it, gone back to the old way, but the animation affects are geared towards the new way and seem backwards now

auto save, versions & restore, I want these to totally die, please give me an option to turn them off

similar to first, all animations, i want to turn these off

iCal, was hoping to move back to iCal in Lion, but the new version is horrendous, address book is almost as bad

Safari (or just web browsing as the same issue in other browsers), is broken for me since upgrading to Lion, in relation to reading forums

If these could get resolved, I would be happy with Lion
