The interest is incredible for the new air model,
and if it has a back lit keyboard look out !

Get your order in quick when its out.

that would be sick.

i doubt it though.. o well we can all dream in the time being :)

I agree the 8 GB version is a dream and may well not happen this year. For the others it's the exact same price points as the current models, except 4 GB instead of 2 (which are currently available as CTO +$100).

But given that they're saving on the nVidia 320, SSD prices going down and SB processors costing about the same as C2D 1 year ago, I think it's totally fair and reasonable to expect 4 GB for the same price. I wonder how much more Thunderbolt costs though, and if they were to add other features such as backlit keyboard, I'd be willing to accept 2 GB.

As for the $100 student discount rather than $50, not only is the Back to School less interesting this year, cheaper MBP get a $100 while even the high end MBA 13 only gets -$50. Again $100 student discount would be both fair and logical.

I'd want a 192GB SSD, as I've been hovering around 110-120GB usage in the past years, and therefor fear a 128GB SSD will not be large enough, but I won't need a 256GB SSD either.

Much rather see that $40 put toward a backlit keyboard than more ram or lower price point.

Fair 2011 price:
$999: 11" / 4GB / 64 GB
$1199: 11" / 4 GB / 128 GB
$1299: 13" / 4 GB / 128 GB
$1699: 13" / 8 GB / 256 GB

I think you're close on all except the top end 13". Given that on all of the other laptops, the upgrade from 4GB to 8GB is $100, I'd expect that to be the case here. I'd expect them to only use the 1.8GHz i7 in the 13", so the upgrades would make sense otherwise. I just think that if we get an 8GB/256GB 13", it will be $1799 or $1899.
