For what it's worth, my 2.0GHz, 9400M, 13" Macbook is playing a 1080p mkv with no trouble at all in VLC. CPU usage is ~35% if iStat is anything to go by.

Did anyone else catch this, or am I the only freak here?![]()
Since Mini-DVI supports 1920x1200 and a 1080p HDTV uses 1920x1080, are there any problems just using the included Mini-DVI adapter?
I already had to purchase one Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter for my wife's MacBook and don't really wish to purchase another one for my new "media center" Mac Mini unless some sort of quirk exists where using Mini DisplayPort results in better video performance or clarity.
Both of my TVs already have DVI-I, so I'll have DVI signal the whole way from the Mini to the TV.
Does anyone have experience with the use of either or both adapters on a 1080p HDTV?
So you played 1080p MKV in Vista...what app were you using?
Did you try to play any WMV HD while in Vista? Not necessary since my xbox can do it, but it would be nice to have the opportunity if need be to play that kind of stuff off the bootcamp.
I'm just thinking if we have to wait for snow leopard to get this to work, at least one OS would do it in the meantime...but i guess with plex the new mini should play 1080p in OSX..??
Yes, we used Arcsoft's Total Media Theatre 3 for playback, this was on a mkv file that was downloaded for "evaluation purposes only". This program uses the GPU, as long as the file is encoded properly L4.1 4 ref frames, No we didn't try WMV HD.
