I use Messenger Bags because I find that they are more comfortable and accessible to use. I'm certainly going to get a backpack for my Macbook Pro, but I'm not planning to take it wherever I go. Thus, I'm looking for an air as an ultra-portable solution for my messenger bag so that I have a laptop on hand wherever I go and whenever I need it.

Sounds like you need a better messenger bag with a wider shoulder strap and a decent shoulder pad to spread the weight?

It boggles my mind what passes for sarcasm...cheese wouldn't qualify..well alright, it would...but that doesn't mean it was good.

You're easily boggled.

It is amazing that someone would ask the question,

"So I was wondering if the 0.5lbs between the 11' and 13' would actually make a difference when carrying it."

in a forum instead of looking for something that weighs 2.3 pounds and something that weighs 0.6 pounds and carrying them around to experience what it's like. No, I'll start a thread and ask other people what it's like. Are people so addicted to online forums that they've lost the ability to think for themselves and experiment? Then they add

"I'm also wondering how much weight would my bag add up if i included the air's power adapter."

Buy another half pound object and carry that around for a while.

And pity poor weckart, who is totally clueless.

.

You're rightt, should know from time on the Internet that sarcasm is seldom well executed online.

I can't disagree on your salient points, it isn't rocket science to chuck something of weight in and see how it feels.

I can't disagree with your logic ... I think.

All I know is that in the United States, Transportation Security Administration officials will allow an 11" MBA to remain in the bag during x-ray. The 13" MBA, on the other hand, must be removed.

Ordinary travelers like myself don't make the rules; we are merely obliged to follow them if we want to transit an airport without being arrested.

TSA is a sort of a modern-day Gestapo ... They pretty much do what they want, and have some incredibly low mentalities providing the "muscle."

If you like, you can Google the TSA's policy. I understand that the 11" form factor, combined with the SSD, is the reason TSA doesn't consider it a threat ... much like an iPad.

I imagine any 'netbook' with an SSD and similar dimensions would be allowed through without first removing it from the case.

The 13" MBA, on the other hand, has to be removed ... again, according to TSA. I did try to get my 13" through at LaGuardia and got myself and my bag searched for my trouble.

Please don't ask me to explain this rather obvious and apparent double-standard ... I cannot. Read my previous post about "limited mentalities" - some of whom are probably running the TSA asylum.
