I’ve learned my lesson with iPads. The 11”, while portable, just makes me want a better Mini. It’s still not that portable and you lose out on the “laptop” experience because the screen is too small. The 11” is a jack of all trades, master of none.

Traded my 6th gen iPad mini, kept my M1 12.9-inch IPP, and ordered the M4 11-inch IPP. 🤞

I’m moving from the 13 to the 11 this time. Having doubts but I have a16in mbp s as my main machine and the iPad is for meetings, writing, media, a little drawing and an on the go machine for when I don’t want to lug my full mobile office around.

My biggest uncertainty is split screen, which I use quite a lot.

11’ with 2 apps side by side is too small, makes them like a phone.
Guessing the 13” is way better?

It’s a very expensive device, arguably overpriced but it is the best experience for me right now and has all the upgrades I was looking for over the 2018 11” pro I had. I had the M2 12.9 and sold it after 3 months.

That said , I’d like to share my experience after a few days of use.

Been using the 13” with Magic Keyboard since I got it on Wednesday, forced myself to use it as my only mobile devices other than my phone to see how it fits into my workflow.

Cue Jim Carrey “like a glove”

I upgraded from the 2018 11” pro.

I’ve been using it to work on
- excel budget sheets for the expenses of my new home

- collab on floor plans with the interior designer

- watch YouTube and Netflix

- game stream from my PS5

- play wild rift and Genshin

The device is absolute overkill but I love it. I can use it as tablet when I need to and work on it when I need keyboard

The experience with the screen, the weight and as an overall package has made me feel VERY comfortable and happy with purchase.

I've been torn, having owned the mini, Air, and both Pro sizes, I enjoyed them all for different reasons. Sadly, the budget doesn't allow me to have one of each size. Currently have the M2 12.9 Pro. I thought I wanted to switch to the 11 this round, but looking at both today, I think I'm sticking with the 13. I enjoy the full size keyboard, and even though the aspect ratio of the 13 means bigger black bars watching media, the overall picture compared to the 11 was still larger.

It’s so hard for me to decide that I purchased both with 1 going back. The 13” is still smaller, lighter, thinner then the mb air so I find it easy to take and use any where. I’m leaning towards the 13 as it feel more magical how thin and light it is. I just find bigger screens better as long as it fits your lifestyle. The 13 with the portfolio case is perfect imho. I lay in the bed and rest it on my fuda so it’s doesn’t get tiring.

I bought a 13” M4 iPad Pro and a iPad mini. Quite content with both. I’ll definitely be selling the mini when the next version with a better screen comes.

For the main computer, it’s a 16” M1 Max MBP connected to a 34” 4.5K monitor.

I went with the 11" iPad Pro M4 with base 256GB/Wi-Fi only.

Reason: wasn't happy with how M1/M2 iPad Pros kept the better screen tech for the larger size which I never need.
The 11" still is lightweight and portable and still fits in my bag effortlessly. Now the same tech in both screen so yup finally pulling trigger!

Not to mention 13" in AUS is a 500$ extra pricetag for a 'slightly larger screen' and it's too close to my m3m 16" mbp... lol makes no sense
works okay for a Macbook Pro [because you get better thermals 16" vs 14" but not an iPad lol]

Got the 13" since I thought the weight reduction would be enough. Found that 13" was beautiful but was too big for me. Reaching the middle of the keyboard with my thumbs when in landscape mode was too uncomfortable (and I have large hands). I gave it back and got the 11" and it is perfect for me.

Remember that if you’re having a work session you can use the “More Space” scaling option and get effectively 12.9” resolution on the 11” which enables full side-by-side on most apps.
Yup. I have the 11” M4 and using apps side by side is perfectly usable for me. I prefer the smaller footprint of the 12” with the Magic Keyboard.

How has the 11” display been? Have you gotten used to it or are you missing the 12.9” display?

It is only almost the 12.9" resolution if you don't have the "more space" option enabled on the 12.9". It is quite a bit of difference between "more space" and not on the 12.9".
