Yes if the already in the states theory is correct they could send tonight via two day and save a few $ over overnight rates.
Seems unlikely since it would greatly increase the chance of early deliveries. I’m also skeptical that for a company of Apple’s size there is any meaningful cost savings (if any). The logistics of managing a launch will be hammered out with UPS early on and overnight versus two day doesn’t change UPS’ expenses.

Apple does have a massive warehouse in Rialto California where they can control when things move out to prevent early deliveries. I am not saying that's what they are going to do here though. I still think the 11's are coming from China.

What could be the case is that the 12.9's and 11's are assembled in different factories and the logistics going on with the 12.9 deliveries may be ahead of where the 11's are right now. Perhaps Apple was so worried about shortages for the 12.9 that they invested more toward getting those out.

My 11" 256GB WiFI Space Gray ordered 4 minutes after availability is still "Preparing to Ship".

Damn I'd be so bummed if my 11 inch was coming from China and not already stateside. Although; I guess it could still be the case.

Nothing on mine. Disappointing. I knew I should have just tried to walk in to a store and buy it. This is why I never pre order from Apple.

I’m going to remain optimistic, they could ship from a storage location in country as late as tomorrow and still make Friday

These need at least 2 day shipping. If there’s nothing by noon today then I’m just going to a local retailer and purchasing.

They deliver stuff overnight all the time. My iPhone 12 didn’t leave Louisville until the night before release day and it still was on my doorstep before noon.

while I think 2 day would make more sense cost wise they can do either and as someone mentioned earlier they might have negotiated the same rate one day or two day.

Nothing on my either. I say if mine ships today it could be coming from China but if it ships tomorrow than mine could already be in the states and anything after that then it could be shipping from china

I cancelled my original order (8:07 am) because I noticed my trade in wasn’t included due to store cart issues….

I reordered at 6:11 pm (took all day to notice the trade in issue) and I still have the May 21- May 27 window. Mine has been stuck on preparing to ship since Monday. I still expect Apple to deliver on Friday.
I would bet that most of us will receive updates later today or tomorrow morning showing all the scans that we think we should be seeing. Most of you should have it on Friday. They do this every launch.

Maybe those with tracking info already were the one on the pallet that got scanned….
