Some people - I agree. Unfortunately, it seems more and more people. If Apple keeps the trend of making their devices bigger then we might see someone with a 25" iPad taking a picture next time :D :D :D

It’s fine.... it’s not that annoying. It looks dumb sure but for some people it helps them. No need to knock it. It helps some people so let them be.

It can look odd, but I've never found it annoying. What I find annoying are the selfie sticks as people poke those around. Luckily, the iPads are too heavy for selfie sticks.

Apple refurbished prices in Canada aren't good IMO, and most of the retailers do not have decent sales.

I will wait. The extra 2 GB alone is almost worth the price difference.

I disagree. It’s an iOS device. Unless you’re planning on using it for editing or etc 4GB will be fine for a while longer. They work for the lowest common denominator which is 2GB ( or 3?) not the highest. If you can get a good deal like I did $400 or some odd off I’ll grab a 2018 vs waiting.

It’s mildly annoying when you’re a NYC native and you’re walking around the city with people using iPads to take pictures in a busy street. Not annoying to care or make a big deal about it but sometimes people are just in my way it’s life. Those are more annoying but what can I do about it ? It’s NYC. We get tourists I got to deal with it

Like I said, the pricing in Canada sucks on the 2018 models. Maybe the pricing will be better when the 2020 models come out, but at that point I probably would just get a 6 GB 2020 model anyway.

Is this a Canada only site ? As I said IF which is the keyword there. If you can get a good deal on an iPad Pro 11 ($200+) I would get the 2018 over the 2020 iPad Pro. That $200 savings is better then whatever improvements on the 2020. I would rather have a 512GB 2018 then a 64 GB 2020 in my case. I paid $730 for my 512gb which is $30 more then the base iPad Pro MSRP assuming they keep the prices the same. The only improvement I would even consider is an OLED panel but even then the LCD panel is great on it and would still probably take the storage over a base 64GB.

No, but you responded to my post, in which I specifically mentioned Canadian pricing as a reason why I'm waiting.

The other thing I'm hoping for is a 128 GB base model, as that would be perfect for me, but I'm only 50/50 on that. Still, it's another reason to wait. Who knows though... Maybe it will get delayed until fall, but in that case, for the cellular types, an advantage is that it will come with 5G.

BTW, regarding RAM: I just bought a 2 GB iPhone 8 for my mother-in-law, but that's because she is short on cash, and has very limited needs. CAD$120 (US$92) on her voice plan, but she gets $200 back in credits, so effectively nothing out of pocket. In retrospect maybe I should have just gotten her the iPhone 7 though since it has the same amount of RAM and was $0 but with the same $200 credit and she's coming from a 6s that's broken, but whatever, too late. I think she'll like the wireless charging too. I've also starting noted a bit sluggishness on my iPhone 7 Plus due to the CPU.

For my wife though, there was no way in Hades I was going to buy another iDevice with only 2 GB RAM. Despite the A10 SoC, I got her the iPad 7th generation. It can occasionally lag, but it's not bad, and eventually she can have my iPad Pro 10.5 with A10X if it really matters to her. 3 GB RAM IMO really should be the minimum. And in fact it is now. Aside from the iPhone 8, which will likely be discontinued in the spring when the "SE2" comes out, there are no more 2 GB iDevices available for sale from Apple outside the refurbished store. They are all at least 3 GB RAM. And, I think that's necessary because even in 2019 2 GB devices are starting to hit that memory ceiling. I've sometimes noticed that on the iPad Air 2s we have. Perhaps it's worse with iPads with desktop Safari, than with iPhones though.

Truthfully, 4 GB on my 2017 iPad Pro is fine for my usage, but considering I want to keep that 2020 iPad Pro for 5 years, I think 6 GB is great advantage to have. 2 GB on my iPad Air 2 in 2014 was amazing, but in 2019 it's limiting.

And it still stands. IF you can find a good deal in CAD, USD, euro, pound, rupee or yen you’re better off getting the 2018 iPad Pro over a 2020 at face value.

Ok? Your point ? You’re not getting $200 worth of improvements in the 2020 over a discounted 2018 if you can get one $200 or more off.
You keep harping on about this, yet you ignore the content of the actual post to which you yourself responded. To turn this around: Is this a US-only site? No it is not. Why did you respond to my post in the first place, which clearly indicated it was about pricing in Canada, and not the US? If you don't want to talk about Canadian pricing history, then don't respond to a post about Canadian pricing history.

If I could have gotten US$400 ($523) off the model tier I wanted, I would have bought the 2018 model already.
In fact, if I could have gotten even US$250 (CAD$326) off the model tier I wanted, I might have bought the 2018 model already.

But those sales don't exist here. It didn't happen on Black Friday, and it didn't happen on Boxing Day, and traditionally, those are the best sale days in Canada all year. Hence I'm waiting.

Well for context, a refurb 64GB is $850 CAD. Regular price is $1000.
If a new 11” iPad Pro’s regular price remains the same with new features, it’s debatable if those features are worth $150 more.
I suspect it might given rumors of a much better camera, possibly more RAM and a faster processor.

Now if they add an additional $100, making it $250 more, it might be worth going for the 2018 model.

And yet I got my iPad in the middle of August with it being $400 off. You also act like there isn’t sales ever. It will be lowered eventually and even if there isn’t the waiting game is Dumb AF. If you need an iPad go get one.

I would lean towards just getting one now. I love my 11" IPP. Camera upgrades on an iPad wouldn't be anything I would care about.

Here you go again. You’re the one that emphasized this is an international forum and yet you keep harping on how your US pricing makes sense for those of us not in the US and who don’t get that pricing.

If you don’t want to talk about real world non-US pricing, then don’t respond to posts about real world non-US pricing.

Translate it yourself. Savings is savings. No need to wait for a mythical iPad. If you need one go get it especially if it’s on sale. You act like only the US puts stuff on sale. FFS. I saved $400. You can save $X in whatever currency you choose. Using your logic I should of waited for the iPad Pro 2056 edition because it will have 1TB of RAM and 16 cameras

In some countries, Apple products don't go on sale until the new models have been announced.

We do get pretty good deals specially on iPads in the US even after factoring sales tax.

I expect most of us have an arbitrary list of features we want and price point we're willing to pay for something. I know I refused to buy the 1TB LTE Pro 11 at $1700+tax. At $1250-1300 on sale or Apple certified refurb, it's a lot more attractive. Granted it's not a need nor even a strong want at this point so I'm content to continue waiting.

Base iPad Pro 11" is $799 so that's actually $70 less than MSRP. :p

Curious, was that brand new? Barring a short couple hours Best Buy glitch, I don't think I've ever seen the 2018 Pro 11 512GB that low.

Ok it is $70 less. I thought it was $699 lol. Anyways it was brand new at microcenter.

You sound completely ridiculous. Your hyperbole isn’t helping your argument.

To reiterate: I’ve already said if I could have saved $400 US I would have bought one, but such pricing has never existed in Canada.

I never said it did. I said IF you can get it on sale for whatever currency you want say CAD, USD and so forth get it. What don’t you get ? On SALE = BUY? Is that easy enough for you ?

I can get it on sale. For maybe US$100 off. Definitely not worth it at that price IMO.

Get it now?

And who said buy it at $100 usd off. I said $200 USD off. If you can get it around that whenever you convert it to your currency it’s a good deal

It’s pretty clear now that you don’t have a clue how Apple product pricing works outside the US.

Who said to buy it from Apple ? Third party dictates prices. See you don’t understand the word IF it seems
