I haven't measured, but I can't believe the 13" has a trackpad much larger than the 11". In fact, I'll bet they're the same size (or damn close).

Nope, sorry. They're the same width, but the trackpad on the 13" is 3" high, 9/16" taller than the one on the 11", which is 2 7/16". That's a lot.

BTW, I have the large, USB Trackpad to go with my extended keyboard with my 27" iMac. Makes the iMac feel like a huge notebook. Much better for my wrist than a mouse.

For me it was not very convenient since the sharp front edge was on my palm. This was not the case withe 13.3".

Not sure what you mean. I type with 10 fingers and the 11.6 is just fine. I type in the basic normal typing position, don't need any more "palm rest" space and the keyboard is standard size (one of the genius things about the 11" Air.)

Just do what I did and buy both.

Worst piece of advice I've heard in quite in a while....I like having my files on my machine...changing between phones is rather annoying when I switch between devices there, and those numbers don't change much, files on my Mac are changing at a far more common basis.

I agree that the advice is terrible, but not for the reasons you state. You're issues can easily be overcome via dropbox or a variety of file sync software. No different than if you had a desktop and a laptop.

Why someone would suggest to purchase an 11 and 13 of the same platform is beyond me.

I see what you're saying, but dropbox is either way to small(2GB free) or even their pay service is still not quite large enough for it to be a non-issue(plus then its an extra 200 bucks). Frankly, its just one more issue to make the idea less then ideal.

I'll be honest, I use my laptop as my main computer so I don't have this issue. Its do able to get around, but its one more thing to worry about.

If it's going to be your main and sole computer, I'd go for the 13" for the extra processing power and the extra resolution (1360x768 is a bit small vertically wise, meaning tons of vertical scrolling). If you dont do processor-heavy tasks, then a maxed out 11" will be fine but I'd recommend you hooking it up to an external monitor while on your desk.

That being said, the 11" is WAY more portable in my opinion... that thing is super tiny and light :)
