Tried the above, the buzz is not coming from any mechanical vibration. It seems to come from the power supply itself.

I've been reading on other forums that is seems like this is a more common problem in Europe. What do you think?

It's probably the same supply as the us version but running at 240v. Could be a bad capacitor that acts up at higher voltage.
 
Yeah. That is not normal. Sounds like the PSU is flakey. I had this happen twice with a homebuilt PC and an Enermax PSU. Drove me up the wall. Couldn't stop waiting for the pop and smoke.
 
I sent the computer to a certified service center. The noise was indeed coming from the power supply. They replaced it for me, but the new one sounds the same...

I've noticed that if I make my 5870 work harder the noise is more noticable. It seems like the power drawn from PSU changes the sound. Hm. I certainly did not expect the Mac Pro to sound like this, but it is not a show stopper.
