Unreal. Cannot decide which one to get.

It seems like there is always some little thing the pro will do better, but these two look pretty close.

Here are the diffs I see.

Aluminum band vs Stainless. Yawn. Yeah stainless is cool, but, is it better? better reception?

4GB vs 6GB ram. another who cares. My XS is fast enough, at least it seems that way. Nod to the 12

Screens, are they the same? I saw the pro is brighter. That's import. Nod to the pro

Camera. This is the most confusing. I am really am more interested in the wide angle lens than telephoto. I used to shoot my nikon D700 with a 50mm prime. My legs are the zoom. The lidar is supposed to help low light focus. I feel the 12 would be an upgrade over my XS. If the camera was that important, I would say pro max, but I don't want a big phone. been there, done that.

Reception is a big deal, I work on my phone all day. Not to happy with the XS, seems like crappy connections over ATT. Or maybe ATT sucks. Don't know.

Am I missing anything? Anyone seen any guides 12 vs 12pro?

In the same boat as you. I want the best camera, but the thought of a big phone turns me off.

I might just grab the 12 Pro and call it a day since I’m extremely impatient.

You pretty much summed up the differences. Also, 12 Pro records video in Dolby Vision at 60 fps (12 only does 30fps) and can shoot photos in ProRAW.

I’m in the same boat as you. I’m trying to decide between the white 12 or the graphite 12 pro. I can’t find any information anywhere if the bezel is smaller on the pro model!!!! Smaller bezel
That pic shows the website for the pro, and it does say “less bezel, more screen”

Another thing that you didn't turn out @Salty Pirate is that the base Pro has 128GB of Storage, it costs $100 to take the 12 up to 128GB so now the price difference is $100 for the better camera capabilities and zoom lens which at the end of the day is really all it boils down to.

I'm happy with my 11 Pro and not in the market for a new phone this year, but I would easily choose the regular 12 if I were looking. I actually prefer the aluminum bands and the colors on the regular model, and it now has the OLED screen that drew me to the Pro last year.

I think the Raw is going to be a feature you don't want to miss, if you are into photography.

I am going for the pro max for the bigger sensor.

I am sure it would bother me knowing that there were camera features I was locked out of.

The Pro Max camera improvements are worth it.

Unfortunately I have pockets and don't use a men's carry all so it just won't work out for me. I'm 90% a one handed phone user guy.

Personally the 12 pro is just not worth it at all. I couldn’t care less about the telephoto lens and 64 GB is plenty for me. But if you’re undecided and can afford it then just go with the pro that way you won’t be missing anything.

I'm in a similar boat. Leaning towards the pro. I think size upgrade on the 12 only adds $50 to go to 128 GB, which I would do if I went with the 12. So it's $150 price difference. I went with the XR last time, wasn't unhappy with it but always longed for some of the nicer camera features (granted, the non-pro model has come a long way since the XR!!!). I am 50mm prime on my 5dmkii 90% of the time, but there are some times I can't "zoom with my feet" in every day cell phone photos of the kids (baseball game, orchestra concert, etc), so the telephoto would be handy.

Since I have to go 128gb minimum due to exceeding 64gb that bumps up the 12 to 849. So 150 extra for camera improvements, stainless steel, 6gb ram, lidar and 800 nits brightness over 625. Could be worth it imo. If you can get away with 64gb it makes the 12 a bit better value.

I am thinking I will preorder the pro, downsize from my 11 pro max. But the 12 is a really compelling choice. I don’t use any of the high end camera features so it’s mostly about the build and I’m not sure if I’d rather have the lighter option.. plus the blue 12 looks amazing.

This should help a bit:

It is indeed a much tougher call this year! I am glad to be sticking with my 11.

I’m debating between the 12 Product Red and Graphite 12Pro. Red is my favorite color but, the pro’s look is very classy. I need some serious help deciding.

I'm having a really hard time too. I actually prefer the lighter 12 over the heavier 12 Pro. For me it costs an extra $160 AUD to upgrade to the 12 Pro from my 11. No-one knows how much of an impact Lidar has on the photos...Surely if it was a huge difference Apple would showcase it?
I like to record video in 60fps and pretty annoyed the 12 doesn't do Dolby Vision in 60fps.
Looks like I might stick to the 12 rather than the 12 Pro....argh!

I am in the same boat. I was always a small phone guy - 5S,6S,X until I decided to go with 11 Pro Max and I hated it. I am on a fence with 12 and 12 Pro. I am SS Apple Watch wearer so I think I will lean on 12 Pro since I like stainless steel frame and the price delta is smaller than ever. I could also see myself benefiting from 128GB in the near future so the additional storage would be a nice perk.

I have 11 Pro now. I am considering the 12 wrong with the bigger size, but I am still concerned about battery life.

I did pocket test with my wife's XS Max last night, there's just no way I can pocket a phone that size on regular basis.

I was close to tipping over to the 12 non-pro but I have young kids and will make use of the better cam capabilities on the 12 Pro so I will be ordering that tomorrow morning.

I had the XS Max and 11 Pro Max, so though the 12 and 12 Pro have a slightly larger chassis and larger screen than the 11 Pro, I'm worried it'll feel too small compared to the 12 Pro Max. I'm not thrilled that the 12 Pro Max is a little larger than the 11 Pro Max, but I already have to use two hands for most functions, so it's not that big of a deal I guess. If there was a 12 Max that was in-between the 12 and 12 Pro Max, I'd likely spring for that model.

What I'm getting at, is if I wasn't conditioned to a larger screen, I'd probably just go for the 12 vs. 12 Pro, but since there is no option in-between 12 and 12 Pro Max screen size, am worried going to a smaller phone will feel uncomfortable. Guess I'm suckered into the 12 Pro Max.

I was going back and forth but really 150 price difference I think is worth the additional camera features and the increased brightness for me.

Aside from Apple.com? lol The dimensions of the screen and the phone are the same. The bezels are the same.

If you guys are used to shooting on 50mm primes, it might be worth noting that the tele on the Pro is equivalent to about 52mm (on a full frame sensor.) It’s not a telephoto lens by any stretch of the imagination, and I’d consider it extremely useful for portrait work unless you literally want to get in your subject’s face with the iPhone’s regular ‘wide’ lens.
