I had double tap on back to activate magnifying glass, yes im getting old
But I found out 2 things
1) it was ridiculous hard to activate
2) unless you were driving then every little bump would activate it so I could not see maps
are you driving or motorcycle ? i have it in my car and it never got accidentally activated

perhaps are you using the magsafe magnet ? the vibrations shouldn't pose a problem with backtap

I wish #6 worked. Every time I get a review prompt it makes me want to leave a bad review mentioning the developer not adhering to the setting.

Thanks for the tips.
Learning something new every time.

Apple should create a Tips section on its website that shows every Tip Functionality in iOS instead of having users do a ‘What does this do’ or ‘What happens if I do this?’
Not everyone will know all, if not most, of these Tips.

Where on the screen are you swiping from?

An earlier reply to you mentioned holding the camera button on the Home Screen of a non-home button iPhone which I use most, but the left swipe should be reliable if you are swiping from almost anywhere on the background image that is easiest for you, other than from on top of the camera/flashlight icons or Home Bar.

Touching one of those ignores the swipe.
Vertical swipe is as inaccurate as it can get, cause it is unreliable on iOS. Even swipe with some angle can fail the gesture. Ive encountered this way too many times to even bother doing swipe. It’s bad.

I learned a few new tips today!

Twitter drama nonsense be damned... This is the MacRumors I know and love.

Yea they need a prompt when you setup on your level of expertise:

Never used a smartphone
Used a smartphone but no iPhone
Master of all Apple

I didn’t know most of these. Half will be very useful- keep articles like these coming! It’s embarrassing that my kids knew most of them though 😔

Great tips - learn something new everyday!

Did not know about the calculator one - will definitely start getting used to that as it will save so much time not having to start over if I type the incorrect numbers

Thanks for the info on how to turn off those app store review prompts - even though I give the developers 5 stars every time the prompt comes up, I’d much rather it not come up in the first place. If I want to review an app, a typed review is the only worthwhile piece of info over a 1 - 5 star rating anyway

Lastly, the shortcut to get to the top (last tip on this list) is one of the most useful shortcuts iOS has had for so long and I can’t tell you how many times I use it on a daily basis. I’ve been using it for many years and have taught countless others how to take advantage of the trick to save time.

I recently bought the new Google Pixel 7 Pro to try out Android and was astonished to see that Android, still to this day, does not have this feature - unless there is a way to turn it on in the settings that I am unaware of

why didn't I know half of these? How dare you humiliate an expert of my likes macrumors?

Great read and I certainly have enabled some of these features. Thanks for sharing.
