M2 15" Air the shortest life time ? So sad..
On the good news is that the M2 Air get the M1 Air place in price
At least the difference between M2 and M3 isn't that great. I bought the mid-2020 13" Intel MBP, only for M1 to be announced a few months later :(. That being said, got 4 good years out of that and am ready for my M3 MBA (and that touted 13x or so improved performance - I'm the target customer here!)!

I purchased a 15" M2 in January. It being discontinued this soon has to be a record for me.

I don’t think support for the 15 inch M2 will be different than any other device. What this tells me is yields have greatly improved on the M3 chips so there is no reason for the M2 to exist. Remember M3 yields were not great for a long time. Apple keeping the base model at 8gb/256gb is what I find unacceptable given the price point.

It really is sometimes hit and miss whether you purchase optimally…. M2 Macbook Air 15 inch has had a very short run indeed… and now the countdown starts on its inevitable end of support… which will be far shorter than the M2 Macbook Air 13 inch which released over a year ahead of it.

I think the M2 Macbook Air 13 inch is going to have a long run indeed.. its going to be like the ipad Air 2…. And im really happy i bought it when i did… im going to get a really good run out of it… a great value proposition for those of us that bought it on release.
I think 13” M2 and 15” M2 will have the same end of support due to they shares lot of hardware except the display, speaker and slightly better CPU.

No logic here connecting this announcement to the end of support for the 15 M2 Air. When end-of-support comes, it will be the same for the 13 and 15 since they have the same chip. If you bought a product sooner, you can use it for longer than someone who bought it later, as it can't be any other way. This announcement changes nothing for users of the 15 M2 Air as it was obvious from the start the 13 M2 Air would have a longer overall lifespan (software-support-wise) since it was released sooner.
I think it just means that 15 M2 will become collector edition sooner 😅 I have both M2 13” and 15” Air; I use and prefer 15” more than 13”.

Its a different model... they have different cases, screen, battery, logic board etc etc

if they do that then they break their 5 years since last retail sale promise.. they have that 5 year since last retail sale rule as otherwise the costs to the company for repairs and servicing and more than the benefit (to Apple).

The 15 inch and 13 inch MacBook Air M2 are different models

M2 for most consumers is overkill

And its not two years old, your M2 Macbook Air you buy today is new… and actually amazing value for most people.

The m2 macbook air was released 15th July 2022. So almost two years.

Unless you were falsely trying to claim it was manufactured two years ago.

Yea it’s different model. But based on hardware spec, they’re mostly the same.
